MFA pruža dodatni nivo sigurnosti jer, čak i ako napadač dobije pristup korisnikovoj lozinci, mora proći još jednu sigurnosnu provjeru, poput verifikacijskog koda poslanog na mobilni telefon ili biometrijske autentifikacije.
Implementacija MFA poboljšava sigurnost kombinovanjem nečega što znate (poput lozinke) sa nečim što imate (kao što je kod poslan na Vaš pametni telefon) ili nečim što jeste (biometrijska verifikacija).
