Editing templates

Edit Templates has functionality that allows you to save a specific type of document, such as a monthly report, a sales forecast, or a presentation with a company logo, as a template that can be used whenever you need it instead of having to save the file or the presentation with the company logo. Create the document again each time.

2.1. Information on the template

A field to enter an arbitrary template name to store the default values. Under this name, the template will be found in the menu for setup form from the form's command line. |
User |
The two-character code of the user who created the template. |
Shortcut |
You can also select a template from the drop-down menu by selecting a key combination to use as a shortcut to the template. To use it, open the window on which you have edited the shortcut to the template and select the key combination entered here. |
Description |
Any additional description of the template (optional). |
Active |
The toggle marks the template as active. |
For the overhead slab building block |
The template can be used as a building block for the control panel. |
Public use |
By default, a prefix can only be used by the user who created it (this radio button is not ticked).
Tick the radio button if you want to allow all users on the database to use it.
|
At the bottom of the window are the settings for the object values.
2. 2. Setting the values of the objects
Description |
Description of the object (criterion):
-
the first part represents the text as it appears on the window for which the template is being set,
-
the second part, shown in brackets, is the name of the object, which can be viewed using Object-Name-Display.
|
Visible
|
-
By default, the box is ticked to indicate that this object will be visible on the window for which the template is being set.
-
Do not tick this box if the object on the window for which the template is being set is to be hidden. For an example use case, see Excluding Unused Criteria.
|
Full
|
-
The field is ticked by default and means that when used, the value for this object is populated with the values from the template.
-
Do not tick the box if you do not want the value of the object in the template to be populated when used.
|
Value
|
The preset value for the object (window). For date fields, it is often more appropriate to choose a different fill method instead of filling the value from the template (e.g. 1.1.2020) (see Specifying date fields in templates).
The value can also be expressed as a select statement that has ~S~ appended to the beginning and end, e.g. ~S~select acident from the_setitem where acname ='01'~S~.

 |
HINT
