Reproduction - Horses
The Reproduction tab is used to enter data about an animal's reproduction.
Reproduction Cycle
| Anticipated Insem. Date |
The date when the animal is planned to be inseminated again after calving. |
| Anticipated Calving Date |
The date when the animal is expected to calve. |
| Insemination Date |
The date when the animal was been inseminated. |
| Insemination Type |
Options are:
- Artificial insemination
- Natural insemination

| Sire ID |
The ID of the sire (father) that inseminated the animal. |
| Sire Name |
The name of the sire (father) that inseminated the animal. |
| Pregnancy Check |
The date when the animal has been checked for pregnancy. |
| Is Pregnant |
Mark whether the animal is pregnant or not. |
| Sire Reg. No. |
The registration number of the sire (father) that inseminated the animal. |
| Date of Outcome |
The date when the animal gave birth or had an abortion. |
| Outcome |
The outcome of the insemination. Options are:
- Birth
- Abortion
- Unsuccessful insemination

| Live Births |
The number of live born newborns. |
| Stillbirths |
The number of stillborn newborns. |
| Insemination document |
In the case of artificial insemination, the number of the document given by the veterinarian upon insemination. |
Live Births
| Sex |
The sex of the newborn animal. |
| Breed |
The breed of the animal. |
| ID |
The ID number of the animal, assigned within one week of birth. |
| Name |
The name given to the animal. |
| Date of Birth |
The date of birth is filled in automatically. |
| Sire ID |
The sire ID is filled in automatically. |
| Sire Name |
The name of the sire is filled in automatically. |
| Sire Reg. No. |
The sire registration number is filled in automatically. |
When number of inserted live births exceeds number stated on reproduction cycle, software will issue a warning.
Entered animal can be deleted by pressing Ctrl-Delete on keyboard. A warning below will show up.
Statistics
| Insemination Index |
The insemination index is calculated by dividing the number of inseminations with the number of pregnancies of an animal. |
| Days to First Insem. |
The number of days between calving and the next insemination. |
| Days Betw. Insem. |
The number of days between inseminations, in case the first was not successful. |
| Avg. Days Pregnant |
The average number of days on that the animal was pregnant. |
| Live Births |
The total number of live born offspring. |
| Stillbirths |
The total number of stillborn offspring. |
