Enter EAN codes as item IDs or subject IDs. You can select which in Program Parameters | Items | EAN.

First let's use EAN codes as item IDs.

1. Parameters

Enter data for Items register in the Open Items register box in Settings | Program Parameters | Items EAN:

• Field: Enter name of field from the Items register in order to fill in the generated EAN code (ID).
• Constant: (optional) Enter leading constant of the code, e.g. 38300.
• Check for Duplicates: If checked, it verifies whether the EAN code is duplicated.
• EAN Type: Set type EAN 13.

2. Entering an Item

Having clicked »+« to create a new record in the Items register, offers the next available EAN code. In other words, the previous one increased by one. The last digit is a control number which is calculated automatically.

Constants in EAN codes are defined by your country's EAN association!

Currently, 13-digit EAN codes are being replaced by 14-digit GTIN codes (Global Trade Item Number). Any EAN code can be changed to a GTIN code by adding a leading 0 to EAN code. GTIN code system was a result of the merger of EAN (European Article Numbering Association), which is in charge of product coding in Europe, and UCC (Uniform Code Council), which is in charge of product coding in the USA and Canada.

Selecting for a new record will automatically generate the next item ID nnnnnnnnnnn7K.
