Adding users to the server level (AddUser_PAX)

In the instructions we will show you how to transfer users from the database to the server using the AddUser_PAX software package.

This operation is required when installing PANTHEON for the first time or when migrating a database from one server to another.

1. Download the AddUser_PAX software package

The user downloads the AddUser_PAX.zip tool to his/her hard drive from the web address http://ftp.datalab.si/Programi/DL-utils/AddUsers_PAX.zip.

Extend the tool with the appropriate extender and run AddUser_PAX.exe with full administrator rights.

The Windows Protect your PC window opens. The user selects More info and Run anyway.

The user selects Yes.

2.Using the AddUser_PAX software package

The AddUser_PAX program transfers users from the database to the server.

In the application window, you will find the following fields and buttons:

Server name	Enter the name of our server (example: .\DATALAB).
Database Name	System name of the database (example: SI_MF).
User	The user sa (sysadmin) specified when installing SQL Server (mixed mode).
Password	Password for the sa (sysadmin) user.
User password	User password - to enter PANTHEON.
	Populate the table with users from the database.
	Transfer users from the database to the server level.
	Close AddUsers_PAX.

In AddUsers_PAX, the user first enters all the parameters on the left side of the program window, i.e.:

• the name of the server,
• the name of the database,
• the user's sa (sysadmin), their password
• a password that will be assigned to users when they are transferred from the base level to the server level.

WARNING All fields must be completed. The User password must be at least 8 characters.

After entering all the parameters, the user fills the table with users by clicking Fill users from User Table.

Depending on the server level, we can also define some roles when adding users from the database to the server level:

WARNING When first downloading users from the database level, we recommend that you AD (administrator) give the user a strong password and mark all the roles listed above. This will give the AD user full authorization to PANTHEON and SQL Server. The first login to the database should be with the AD user having all the roles listed above. You can optionally add server roles for other users. To run PANTHEON for other non-AD users, it is sufficient to have only the db_owner role checked.

The program will read the recorded users from the database (Database name).

Clicking Create users will also transfer the users to the server (SQL) level.

If the user transfer is successful, the software will notify us with a message: Operation completed!
