Editing templates
Edit templates
Edit templates is a feature that allows us to save a certain document type, such as a monthly report, a sales forecast, or a presentation with the company logo, as a template that can be used every time we need it, instead of having to save the or document each time.

1. Form templates
The editing of templates in PANTHEON is accessed by clicking the 
(Templates) button in the toolbar, and selecting the option Form Templates from the menu. From the drop-down list, we select Edit Templates.
2. Editing the template
The Edit Template window opens.
The header contains information about the template.
2.1. Information about the template
| Name |
A field to enter an arbitrary template name for saving the default values. The template will be found under this name in the Form settings of the toolbar. |
| User |
A two-digit ID of the user who created the template. |
| Shortcut |
We can also select a combination of keys for the form, which should be used as a short cut to the template. To use it, we open the window on which we created the short cut to the template and use the key combination entered here. |
| Description |
Any additional description of the template (optional). |
| Active |
The checkbox marks the template as active. |
| For dashboard component |
The template can be used as a dashboard component. |
| Public use |
By default, a template can be used only by the user who created it (this checkbox unchecked).
We check it if we want to enable all other users on the database to use it.

The lower part of the window contains the object value settings.
2. 2. Set object values

the first part represents the text as it appears on the window for which the template is being set,

the second part, shown in brackets, represents the name of the object, which can be viewed using the Show object names function.

Visible

By default, the checkbox is checked and it means that this object will be visible on the window for which the template is being set.

Do not check the checkbox if the object on the window for which the template is being set is to be hidden. For a use case, see chapter Deactivating unused criteria.

Run
|

The checkbox is checked by default and it means that when used, the value for this object is populated with the values from the template.

We do not check the checkbox if we do not want the value of the object being populated with the value from the template.

Value
|
The pre-set value for the object (window). For date fields, it is often more appropriate to choose a different population method from populating the value from the template (e.g. 1.1.2020) (see Specifying date fields in templates).
The value can also be expressed as a SELECT statement that has ~S~ appended at the beginning and end, e.g. ~S~select acident from the_setitem where acname ='01'~S~.

The created template can be found in the templates menu, under the name Current values, from where it can also be selected.
