Creating a Basic BOM

The person responsible links the predefined product item to the Basic Bill of Materials (BOM) and starts by creating a BOM and entering lines.
Following is a case of creating a Bill of Materials in PANTHEON.
 |
CASE SUMMARY
Marc Manufacturing opens a new BOM, links it to the predefined LARA3 item and fills in the missing general data. Marc starts by entering the first lines in the BOM tab and later continues in the Materials and Operations tabs. This is done as follows:
- Opening a Basic BOM
- Linking an item to the Basic BOM
- Overviewing BOM lines
|
1. Opening a Basic BOM
The person responsible for opening the Basic BOM selects Settings | Manufacturing | BOMs | Basic BOM. The program opens the already created BOM of the first item displayed in alphabetical order.
To open a new form, the person responsible selects Insert record in the toolbar. A blank form opens.

2. Linking the item to the Basic BOM
In the Item field, the person responsible selects a predefined item LARA3 from the Items register.
 |
WARNING
In the BOM, only items of type P – Products, C – Compound goods and U – Compund service can be selected. To avoid problems later, it is desirable that the items are provided with as much data as possible.
|
After selecting an item, PANTHEON automatically fill in the data from the Items register. The person responsible completes the general data, then enters one unit in the Optimum Qty. field and select the default Doc. Type for WO for the product, namely 6000 – Manufacturing, in the Doc. Type for WO field.
PANTHEON automatically fills in data into the Create and Edit fields to record the time and the user who created or modified the BOM.
Entering the lines continues in dedicated tabs: Materials and Operations.

You can read more about how the example of creating a new BOM is taken further in the chapters:

3. Overviewing BOM lines
The BOM tab gives an overview of all the lines in the BOM and shows the general data for each line.
 |
WARNING
While it is possible to enter lines in the BOM tab, we advise against using the BOM tab for this purpose. It is preferable to use the dedicated tabs in the window for editing the BOM, e.g. for entering materials and for entering work operations.
User examples of how to enter lines can be found in the chapters below:

The figure below shows the lines of the active alternate.

To display the lines of all active and inactive BOM alternates, the person responsible right-clicks the BOM lines table area and selects Show all alternates.
