Alternates

The Basic BOM in PANTHEON allows you to use alternates which can simplify and quicken the process of manufacture preparation.
Below, read a case of creating a new alternative in a product's Basic Bill of Materials.
 |
CASE SUMMARY:
Marc Manufacture is going to add a new alternative LARA MATERIAL 2 to the Basic BOM of item LARA3. The lines are added the same way they were added in previous cases. This is done as follows:
- Opening the BOM
- Adding an Alternate
- Adding Lines
- Displaying Alternates
|
1. Opening the BOM
The person responsible for opening the Basic BOM selects Settings | Manufacturing | BOMs | Basic BOM.
In the search engine in the toolbar, the person responsible finds item INDIAN1 and opens the linked BOM by selecting the item.
2. Adding an Alternate
On the left side of the BOM window, the tree structure of the BOM is visible. The structure displays all levels of the BOM and alternates according to filters selected above the structure.

To add a new Alternate, the person responsible right-clicks the mouse in the empty space in the BOM tree structure window and selects the Add alternate option.

This opens a new empty subform Alternate, where the alternate name and number can be entered into the Alternate fields. In this case, INDIAN MATERIAL 2.
The person responsible sets the Status to Confirmed and selects the Scheduling method By Technological Procedures.
By clicking the Active window, the person responsible activates the alternative and saves it by clicking the green tick. Alternate is immediately visible in the tree structure.

In PANTHEON, alternates can be used in two ways: with one active alternate or several active alternates. For more information, see the chapter Alternate Lines in Specifications.

In PANTHEON, you can also add a phantom to a BOM as an alternate. When creating work orders from a Basic BOM, the phantom will be added only as lines and a separate work order will not be created for the phantom.
For more information, see the chapter Phantom - Virtual Assembly.

3. Adding Lines
The person responsible adds lines to the Alternate just like in other cases. When entering lines, the person responsible must be careful to select the correct alternate number linked to the material or work operation from the drop-down menu.

4. Displaying Alternates
Selecting the BOM tab displays only active alternate lines.
To view lines of all alternates, the person responsible right clicks anywhere in the field and selects Show all alternates from the list.

The list now shows lines of all alternates.
