Verify document signature

The Verify document signature block is used for verifying signed documents in the Documentation module. This block allows you to check whether document was changed after it was signed.

In practice, this means that if at least one or more of the signed files have been modified after signing, a message will be displayed or an exception is thrown, depending on the setting selected.

HINT

The workflow checks all signed files. If no file was changed, then everything is fine and the workflow block does not display the notification.

If a file in Documentation is not signed, the workflow cannot check whether it was changed or not. In such a case, the workflow block does not display the notification.

 

The block can be accessed from the menu Settings | Documentation | Workflow Design by clicking the panel Design | DMS.

Double-clicking the Verify document signature block opens the Verify document signature form,where you can define the settings for:

 

Folder/File names (delimited ;)

Define the files to be checked. The parameter can be defined in the following formats:

  • Folder name
  • Name of one or more files to be verified, where the names are separated with a semicolon.
  • Variable (written in square brackets) containing the values previously specified, e.g. [FileName].

Break on error

If checked, workflow execution stops and an exception is thrown.

By default, the field is not checked, which means that nothing happens even if the signature of the document is incorrect or has been changed.

Show error message

If checked, an error message is shown and workflow execution continues.

Reset

Returns all field values to default or empty.

OK

Saves information and closes the window.

Cancel

Closes window without saving.

 

WARNING

The Verify document signature block does not check the following:

  • validity of certificate for .pdf files;
  • signature expiration for .xml files.
