VOLOS

The PANTHEON VET program allows us to import data on cattle directly from the VOLOS portal, thus speeding up data entry and reducing the possibility of errors.

In this chapter, we will present an example of importing data on animals - cattle from the VOLOS portal. The functionality is located in the menu Veterinarian | Registers | Owners and animals, by clicking on the VOLOS button.

HINT

For more detailed information about the program forms, please read the chapters Cattle and Importing data from VOLOS in the Guide for PANTHEON VET.

WARNING

On the Owner/Animal entry form the button becomes active only if a number is entered in the Holdings field.

CASE SUMMARY

A veterinarian on the field performs regular vaccinations of cattle. At the location of the farm, owned by Gregor Holstein, the veterinarian will first list the cattle, which they will also vaccinate. Since the herd is large, they will import the data on the cattle in its entirety from the VOLOS portal. The process of importing animal codes will be carried out with the following steps:

  1. Searching for the owner's code
  2. Entering the Holdings number
  3. Connecting to the VOLOS portal
  4. Adding data and importing

1. Searching for the owner's code

The person responsible on the field first checks or searches for the owner's code, where the animal codes from the VOLOS portal will be imported. The detailed owner search procedure is described in the chapter Searching for an owner or animal in the register.

WARNING

If the owner is not yet registered in the PANTHEON VET program, the person responsible first enters the owner, then the animal. For more detailed instructions, see the chapter Adding a new owner.

2.Entering the Holdings number

The person responsible has found the code of the owner Gregor Holstein. Now checks the relevance of the Holdings number.

  • In the Holdings field, the person responsible enters the correct agricultural holding code or the location of the barn where the cattle are located.

  • Clicks the Save button and the VOLOS button appears.

HINT

When the owner has their animals in different locations, it is necessary to enter different Holdings (GMIDs). For more information about different Holding codes, see the chapter Holdings.

3. Connecting to the VOLOS portal

WARNING

In order to connect to the VOLOS portal, you must first edit your access data. More detailed information on obtaining access to the VOLOS portal can be found on the website GOV.SI.

  • The person responsible clicks on the VOLOS button. A new window for importing data from VOLOS opens.

  • The Holdings field has been filled in automatically because the person responsible has already entered the data in the owner's register.

  • The person responsible continues to enter the data access to the VOLOS portal. The person responsible enters them in the User and Password fields.

  • The person responsible clicks on the Download data button.

  • Upon a successful connection to the VOLOS portal, a list of animals that the owner currently has registered in the portal appears in the lower part of the screen mask.

  • In our case, the person responsible will import all animals, so in the Select column, the person responsible checks all animals.

4. Adding data and importing

The person responsible now continues to add the selected data about the cattle. The person responsible must fill in the data, i.e. column Animal types.

  • The person responsible presses Ctrl + Shift on the keyboard and thus marks all animals to which they will assign the same category (cow, bull, calf).

  • In our case, they are all female cattle - cows. The person responsible clicks in the Animal Category field with the right mouse button and selects the following option: Set for selected > Type > Cow.

  • To finally transfer the data to the PANTHEON VET database, the person responsible clicks the Add and update button, which is located in the lower right corner of the screen.

After the transfer, the list of animals is displayed on the owner code form.
