Status of Northern Ireland and Use of GB and XI codes

At the end of the transitional period, the Ireland / Northern Ireland Protocol applies to Northern Ireland, which provides, inter alia, that, with regard to Northern Ireland, the provisions of EU law relating to customs legislation and trade in goods also apply to and within the UK. Consequently, Northern Ireland is considered an EU Member State (ie it is considered part of the customs territory of the Union).
For the purposes of registration and identification of economic operators and for the purposes of completing customs declarations, notices and proof of the customs status of Union goods, the following codes shall be used:
GB United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man
XI United Kingdom (Northern Ireland). Code used if the United Kingdom (in relation to Northern Ireland) is to be distinguished in accordance with the conditions laid down in the relevant Union provisions
Where a consignment originates in Northern Ireland, code XI shall be used as the identifier of the Member State in the main reference number (MRN) for transit operations.
Code XI is used for customs offices in Northern Ireland. For customs offices in the UK (excluding Northern Ireland), the GB code is used under the Common Transit Convention.
EORI numbers issued in the UK (Northern Ireland) will contain code XI. In the address of the registered office of the company, the code XI is used for economic operators established in Northern Ireland and the code GB for economic operators established in the UK (excluding Northern Ireland).
IMPORTANT!
Given that the ISO code 826 is already used in the UK - two identical ISO codes cannot be used, so we decided to create a new XI2. All XML reports (Intrastat, RPO ...) are prepared in such a way that the correct data on origin or tax prefix are displayed and imported.
Tip:
Country code list or new or missing countries, and subsequent additional filling of individual data of countries from the code list (eg: transfer of geoordinates of countries ...), can also be imported from the web server using the download button.
