Dog entry

When the owner brings his animal to the veterinary clinic for the first time, the receptionist or the veterinarian enters the program, where a unique code is created for the animal.

In this chapter, we will present an example of creating a new code for a dog. The functionality is located in the menu Veterinarian | Registers | Owners and Animals, tab Dogs.

HINT

For more detailed information about the program forms, see the Dogs chapter in the Guide for PANTHEON VET.

CASE SUMMARY

The owner, Peter Pritlikavi, takes his new dog named Archie to the veterinary clinic for the first time, in order to arrange a copy of the ownership for the animal. The veterinarian or receptionist first enters the animal in the register during the animal's first visit to the veterinary clinic. The process of creating a new animal code will be carried out in the following steps:

  1. Searching for the owner's code
  2. Entering data on the General tab
  3. Entering data on the Dogs tab
  4. Print animal data

1. Searching for the owner's code

The person responsible in the veterinary clinic first checks or searches for the owner's code, where they can then create a new code for the animal.

The detailed process of searching for the owner is described in the chapter Search for the owner or animal in the register.

WARNING

If the owner is not yet enrolled in the PANTHEON VET program, the person responsible first enrolls the owner, then the animal. Read more detailed instructions in the chapter Adding a new owner.

2. Data entry for the General data tab

The detailed procedure is described in the chapter Animal entry (general).

WARNING

The Animal ID field includes a character count control. When entering data for a dog, the program warns if the record length is not appropriate. In this case, it returns the message: 'Animal ID does not have 15 characters. Check the length!'

3. Data entry on the Dogs tab

After entering the basic data of the animal, the appropriate tab is created depending on the selected type of animal. In our case, the Dogs tab was created. The person responsible will then enter more detailed information about the dog.

  • In the Pedigree No. field, enters the pedigree data: SLRPp-00085.

  • From the drop-down list in the Sup. doc. complete field, the person responsible selects: 1-Complete.

  • In the Source (o) field, from the drop-down list the person responsible selects: Born in RS

  • The person responsible enters the document number in the Passport No. (o) field: SI321456.

  • Completes the data in the Issued On (o) field: 19. 08. 2022.

  • The person responsible enters the data in the Dam Chip (o) field: 705321459520001.

  • Selects the data for the Size (o), Hair Length (o) and Color (o) fields from the drop-down list.

  • After weighing the animal, the person responsible enters the data in the Weight field. In our example, the person responsible enters: 3.

  • The person responsible also enters the data in the Registration Date field: 19.08.2022.

  • When finished entering data, the person responsible clicks the Save button located in the toolbar.

HINT

The (o) mark in the field name indicates that the data is required.

4. Print animal data

In case the person responsible wants to check the data about the dog or write them out to the owner, they do it in the following way.

  • The person responsible clicks on the Print button. A new window of the form List of owners and animals opens

  • The person responsible selects the printout 6VM and clicks on the Print button

HINT

You can use Criteria to narrow down the selection of data on the printout. In the individual criteria field, enter the criteria you are looking for or you can select it from the drop-down list. Read more detailed information about the program forms in the Guide for PANTHEON VET, in the chapter List of owners and animal.

  • A preview of the printout opens, which the person responsible can print, save on the computer, etc.

HINT
  1. In the case of a shepherd dog entry, please also read the chapter Shepherd dog.
