Work Order for Product with Checked Serial Number Tracking

Work Order for Product with Checked Serial Number Tracking

There are a few ways of serial number tracking of materials and products that you can select in the Items register (Fot detailed treatment and examples see Serial Numbers). Roughly, we can make two groups:

  • Assigning Unique Serial Numbers (Types S and E) Here we can identify detailed components assembly for each compound item (including serial numbers). To use this option you have to create work order for each compound product. Here you enter serial number of parent item together with serial numbers of child items.
  • Assigning Group and Batch Serial Numbers (Types K, P and O) Here you can identiry serial numbers for all child items which are further linked to a certain work order or group of compound products. But here you cannot precisely identify which serial number is included in serial number of a specific compound item.

Let us say we are trying to create product PRODUCTSN01 with checked unique serial number tracking. The following components are used in production:

  • MATERIALSN01, with unique serial number tracking
  • OPERATIONN01
  • MATERIAL02, no seriial number tracking used
  • SEMIPRODSN01, batch serial number tracking
  • OPERATION02

Open work order for this item and subsequently process work order. Because serial number tracking is checked for product, you MUST enter as many serial numbers as there are pieces for which you confirmed production - this is done by double click on Field Quantity or by click on button Serial numbers.

If the number of entered serial numbers and produced products do not match, IRIS error message 4732 is returned when trying to confirm production:

Besides serial number of products you have to issue serial number of component SEMIPRODSN01 for which you checked batch serial number tracking, as well as MATERIALSN01 for which unique serial number tracking was checked. Selecting serial numbers on stock is similar to the procedure of assigning serial numbers in document of issue:
