Register Preparation

Double-click the newPOS - CodeListEditor icon to run the program. The LOGIN window will appear, which includes the keyboard for entering the service login code.

For any kind of entry press the big button in the lower left.

Item Groups

  • ID – the program adds it automatically.
  • Name – enter by using an external keyboard or open the on-screen keyboard (blue button in the bottom left), KEY.
  • Confirm the group entry with OK or delete it by pressing X.
  • You can change the title of an already entered group by pressing the CHANGE button. Confirm the change by pressing OK or cancel by pressing CLEAR, in which case the program will ask you again, if you really want to delete the group.
  • Continue with the group entry by pressing ADD.

Taxes

  • ID – the program adds it automatically.
  • Name and rate – enter that by using an external keyboard or open the on-screen keyboard (blue button in the bottom left), KEY.
  • Confirm the entry with OK or delete it by pressing the X button.
  • You can change the name of an already entered classes by pressing the CHANGE button. Confirm the change by pressing OK or cancel by pressing CLEAR, in which case the program will ask you again, if you really want to delete the rate.
  • Continue with a new entry by pressing ADD.

Payment Methods

  • ID – the program adds it automatically.
  • Name – enter by using an external keyboard or open the on-screen keyboard (blue button in the bottom left), KEY, the same for the title of the POS Terminal. The POS Terminal title can be entered from the name of the card of that terminal. You can get the names from the settings of the payment terminal. Contact your service provider.
  • Confirm the entry with OK or delete it by pressing the X button.
  • You can change the title of an already entered payment method by pressing the CHANGE button. Confirm the change by pressing OK or cancel by pressing CLEAR, in which case the program will ask you again, if you really want to delete the entry.
  • Continue with a new entry by pressing ADD.
  • ATTENTION! Only the payment method with the code 01 allows you to enter a payment that is larger than the total. It will automatically show the change amount. That's why the default payment method under 01 is CASH.

Users

  • ID – the program adds it automatically.
  • Name – enter by using an external keyboard or open the on-screen keyboard (blue button in the bottom left), KEY.
  • Password – entered via keyboard. It's there for protecting the user. Without the password, the user cannot log into the sales program. Remember it!

  • Confirm the entry of the user and the password by pressing OK or delete it by pressing the X button:

  • Group – find the appropriate group from the groups already entered in the first step. An overview of the already entered groups is shown when you press the ... button. It's not possible to enter a new group at this point. You have to return to the section on Item groups and enter it there.
  • Tax class – find the appropriate group from the groups already entered in the first step. An overview of the already entered groups is shown when you press the ... button. It's not possible to enter a new group at this point. You have to return to the section on Tax rates and enter it there.

  • Price – a space for manual entry of the price with the VAT for the unit in the upper line. ATTENTION! There is a Happy hour price window to the right. Enter the price which will automatically be adopted during the Happy hour price period. Setting that up will be discussed later under HAPPY HOUR.
  • Confirm the entry of the item by pressing OK or delete it by pressing the X button.
  • You can change the name of an already entered item, the tax class, price or group by pressing the CHANGE button. Confirm the change by pressing OK or cancel by pressing CLEAR, in which case the program will ask you again, if you really want to delete the entry.
  • Continue with a new entry by pressing ADD.

Packaging Codes

  • ID – press the ADD button.
  • The REGISTER EDITOR window will open. In the upper window next to the item code is the ... button. Press that to open the ITEM LIST. Select the item to which you want to attach the Package code. That's a code for the standard package size for a specific item (e.g. 6 bottles of water in one package). In our case, we've selected the item with the name New item and confirmed it by pressing OK. In the Item code window, the code of the selected item and the title of the item will appear.
  • The Code window – enter the package code via keyboard or external device (barcode reader).
  • The Quantity window – enter the quantity of the item in one package via keyboard.
  • Confirm with OK.
  • A line from the list which contains the package codes will appear. By reading the barcode, the receipt will contain 6 units of the New item.

Barcode Types

  • Barcodes come in various forms. Some represent only the item code, some just the batch or package of items, others represent the weight in addition to the item code, and yet others that represent not only the item code but also the price and other information. For the program to run properly, you can enter two different types of barcodes: 1. with weight (starts with 28) and 2. with the price (starts with 26). When they've been entered here and confirmed, the program will be able to recognize them.
  • Fill out all fields by using an external keyboard or open the on-screen keyboard (blue button in the bottom left), KEY.
  • Beginning of the code – enter 28 for the weighed items and 26 for items with the corresponding price.
  • Item code length – enter the number of characters used in the item barcodes.
  • Whole number places – enter the number of numerals before the decimal point for the price or weight of the item.
  • Decimal number places – enter the number of numerals before the decimal point for the price (e.g. 2 for cents) or weight (e.g. 3 for grams) of the item.
  • No. of control points – the code in last place for selection of data includes a control (the usual number is 1).
  • Code type – select from the list. Press the ... button.
  • Confirm the entry with OK or delete it by pressing the X button.
  • You can change already entered information by pressing the CHANGE button. Confirm the change by pressing OK or cancel by pressing DELETE, in which case the program will ask you again, if you really want to delete the entry.
  • Continue with a new entry by pressing ADD.

Happy Hour

  • These are the prices used when you want to attract more customers or guests. Set the lower prices or discounts for your desired items or item groups as shown in the chapter on Register editing, Items. Then set the time frame, when these lower (or higher) prices are in effect. In this case, the cashier doesn't have to worry about switching the prices around as the program does it automatically.
  • Day – select the day of the week from the list.
  • From – using an external keyboard or the on-screen keyboard (the blue button in the lower left called KEY), enter the exact time when the new prices come in effect. The time format is hh:mm.
  • To – same as above, enter the time when the prices are set back to normal.
  • There can be several Happy hour periods in one day!
