Connection to OLAP server, SQLBrowser connection error

If you are trying to connect from your workstation to an Analysis server, located in another domain, you may get an error, while trying to connect to to server.

Follow the steps below to ensure the connection to your OLAP database:

  1. Make sure that SQL Browser service is running on both machines.
  2. Open TCP/IP port 1433, 2382 (for defult instance) and 2383 (for named instance) on server machine
  3. Open UDP port 1434 on server machine
  4. Open computer management |Local Uers and Groups | Users and add domain user, that you use on your workstation. User name and password should be the same.
  5. Open Analysis server, select Properties | Security and add domain user from your workstation to the list.

This steps will enable you to connect to Analysis server through PANTHEON or from SQL managenet studio.
