Entering a package item

Items can be bundled together in a package and sold to the customer as a single item. You can bundle goods, services or a combination of goods and services. However, in addition to the item for the package, PANTHEON also keeps data for each individual package item. Here is an example of how to create a goods package code in the Items register.

CASE SUMMARY

Tecta has its own bar. Restaurant Manager Carla will set a new code for the Tecta Coffee package, which is intended specifically for employees. In addition to coffee with sugar, the package also includes mineral water. Carla will complete the entry process by performing the following steps in PANTHEON:

  1. Creating a new record for the item
  2. Defining general information for the item
  3. Defining sales pricing for the item
  4. Defining a bill of materials (BOM) for the item

1. Creating a new record for the item

The person responsible wants to add a new item in the Items register, which is accessed via the menu Settings | Items | Items. The detailed entry process is described in the chapter Entering an item from a purchase. The final result of the entry process is shown in the image below.

2. Defining general information for the item

After creating the new item code, the person responsible enters data in the General panel as shown in the image below. The detailed entry steps are described in the chapter Entering an item from a purchase.

Warning

In the field Item type<>, the person responsible selects the code type G (203 – goods package). This enables additional settings to be entered in the Items register in the BOM panel, which will be examined in the next step.

3. Defining sales pricing for the item

The person responsible wants to set a sale price for the package. This is done in the Costing/Pricing panel, as shown in the image below. More detailed entry steps are described in the chapter Entering an item from a purchase.

4. Defining a bill of materials (BOM) for the item

A goods package consists of several items. The person responsible prepares the BOM in the in the BOM panel of the Items register. The person responsible lists all the constituent items of the package, as shown in the image below. The detailed procedure for entering the BOM is described in the chapter BOM.

HINT
  1. You can use the same process to create a service package (item type H), to which you assign services.
  2. There is also an item type for compound goods (type C), which allows the creation of packages.
  3. For more examples of how to use the different items types, see the chapter Item Type Examples.
