Creating data backup in cloud

The PANTHEON database backup can be created manually as required. To successfully create a manual backup of the database, all the required conditions must be met.

This chapter shows how to create a new database backup in the cloud.

CASE SUMMARY The person responsible wants to manually create a backup of the current state of the local PANTHEON database. This is done as follows: Opening the Backup form Selecting the backup location and setting a password  Selecting the database for backup

WARNING For security reasons, you should always use the client on the server and not the workstation when performing a backup.

1. Opening the Backup form

To open the Backup form in PANTHEON, person responsible selects Settings | Program | Administration Panel from the main menu.

On the left side of the window, the person responsible selects the Database panel and then the Backup subpanel.

This opens the form for creating a backup.

2. Selecting the backup location and setting a password

The person responsible enables the To Cloud radio button in the Backup path section.

Existing backups are displayed.

In the Password field, the person responsible enters a desired password to protect the access to the backup archive. This way, the backup archive can only be restored by entering the specified password.

WARNING If you set a password when creating your backup, make sure to take note of it.

3. Selecting the database for backup

The person responsible clicks the Backup Database button.

On the right side, a window opens listing all the databases on the server.

The person responsible selects the database that will be backed up, in this case Tecta Plc. (EU_TECTA (10.0.36.20)).

Clicking the Save button starts the process of uploading the database to the cloud.

HINT The upload speed depends on the processing speed of your computer and the speed of your internet connection.

When the transfer to the server is complete, PANTHEON shows the information on the backup process.

Clicking the OK button closes the information window.

A copy of the database is now displayed in the list of backups.

When selecting a record in the Messages/Errors field, the program displays the status of the backup copy or potential errors.

HINT The backup name of all backups should start with the string Bkp, while the password-protected backups should start with BkpLock.
