Issuing Serial Number

The overview of serial numbers is an extremely powerful tool for following the items that have been recorded by serial numbers. It can be only used with items which have the serial numbers assigned either individually or for the whole batch. This chapter introduces an example of issuing a serial number.

Case summary

The person responsible, Roger, has created a POS receipt for customer Marc Camper, and wants to add an item using a bar code. This is done by following the process described below.

WARNING

To use this functionality, you must first assign serial numbers to items.

HINT

In the General panel, select the method of serial number tracking.

The person responsible opens the last created POS receipt on 3200 – POS retail.
The person responsible enters CHAIR BIG in the Item field.
A new Issue Serial Numbers form opens.

On the left side of the panel, Serial numbers and total Stock – 500,000 can be seen.
For serial number 4568, Stock is 300,000.
For serial number 4569, Stock is 200,000.

On the right side of this form, in the Quantity column, the person responsible enters 2.
Now, for Serial Number 4569, the Stock is 198,000.

This item and quantity can be seen on the receipt.

Hint

For a better understanding of the purpose of using serial numbers, see the chapter Why Use Serial Numbers?
