Ping and Trace

When suspecting the database performance is slow, the first step is to check the speed of connection with the server. It does not matter if the server is in your building or in the Cloud, the information about the ping and trace parameters gives you the basic information when diagnosing the problem.

The Ping/Trace panel can be accessed by clicking the Performance panel, which is located in the Administration panel.

HINT

The ping parameter tells us how long data travels from the server to your work station.

The trace parameter tells us how the web package travels from the server to the work station.

For this purpose, we have prepared a User Manual with the following use cases:

Analysing ping With the Ping parameter we find out if the IP address of the server exists or if it is available, and how long the data travels from the server to your work station. In this chapter we show detailed steps of analysing the Ping parameter.
Analysing trace

The Trace parameter tells us how the information package travels from the server to the work station (which way it takes). If there are several transitions between routers, the travelling speed of the data will fall (it will be lower than optimal). In this chapter, we show detailed steps of analysing the Trace parameter.
