Logging into multiple databases using multi-factor authentication

Getting started

When Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is enabled in PANTHEON, it is specific to each database and applies to all users within that database. Sending SMS tokens for MFA requires an active eMessages service.

If a user accesses multiple databases with MFA enabled, eMessages service credits are deducted separately from each database.

Case summary

The person responsible from accounting company PECUNIA logs in to their database which has enabled MFA. When they request the SMS token, the credit is deducted from PECUNIA's eMessages service. Then they log in to their customer's database STATUO, which also has enabled MFA. When again requesting the SMS token, the credit is deducted from STATUO's eMessages service.

  1. Logging in to PECUNIA database
  2. Logging in to STATUO database

1. Logging in to PECUNIA database

Before logging in to PECUNIA database, there are 6,315 credits used on PECUNIA's eMessages service.

The person responsible logs in to PECUNIA database using multi-factor authentication.

They receive the SMS token and enter it into the MFA login window.

After logging in, the new status of eMessaging service is 6,39 credits used.

Then they continue to log in to their customer's database.

2. Logging in to STATUO database

Before logging in to STATUO database, there are 0,225 credits used on STATUO's eMessages service.

The person responsible logs in to STATUO database using multi-factor authentication.

They receive the SMS token and enter it into the MFA login window.

After logging in, the new status of eMessaging service is 0,3 credits used.
