About Profiles
Profiles are used when more than two databases need to by synchronized.
Each profile is the definition of a synchronization of two databases.
The following examples has three branch offices, thus three profiles are
needed.
- Profile 1: synchronize Main Office - Branch 1
- Profile 2: synchronize Main Office - Branch 2
- Profile 3: synchronize Main Office - Branch 3

The main office export items and subjects in all three profiles.
- In Profile 1, document types 140, 340, 840 are exported to branch 1.
- In Profile 2, document types 150, 350, 850 are exported to branch 2.
- In Profile 3, document types 160, 360, 860 are exported to branch 3.

OTOS always exports the selected document types and registers, and
imports everything that has been exported at the other side. |
Profiles and Installation Codes
OTOS can synchronize only databases that have different serial numbers
and the associated installation codes. Therefore, locations must be set up
properly, each with its own PANTHEON serial number.
Each location must have its own serial number. OTOS includes the serial
number in all transfers, which ensures correct replication of data. The
chart below shows a proper setup.

 |
OTOS will not import any data if there is a problem with serial
numbers, but will leave a log entry. If OTOS is not importing data,
make sure to first check the serial numbers. |
The following chart shows an incorrect setup.

In this case, OTOS will return an error and make a log entry.
