Copying Product Specification to Commercial Specification

Copying Product Specification to Commercial Specification

Set Product Specification for source and Commercial Spec for destination specification in the Copy Specification window.

To copy, follow the steps below:

  • A check is run before actually starting to copy. It is obligatory that you enter an item and alternate for source specification. On the other hand, you only have to set item for destination specification. Because the commercial specification does not support alternates, you can only set one of the existing alternates in the source specification. The messages described in the previous topic are displayed in case of errors occurring.
  • Quantity or batch of specification can be set for destination specification. By default the greater quantity of the two is used: - The quantity in commercial specification (KolicSarza in Items)
    - (minus) the maximum volume of item (+ alternate) in product specification.
User can change quantity which will then be used for first level.
  • Set a mode used for copying quantities, scrap and waste. The following options are made available:

- Quantity of commercial specification is equivalent to the quantity of product specification. Shrinkage recorded in commercial specification includes total scrap and waste quantities (scrap + waste).

- Quantity of commercial specification is equivalent to the quantity of product specification (quantity + scrap + waste). Shrinkage recorded in commercial specification includes total scrap and waste quantities (scrap + waste).

- Quantity of commercial specification is equivalent to the quantity of product specification (quantity - scrap - waste). Shrinkage recorded in commercial specification includes total scrap and waste quantities (scrap + waste). - Quantity of commercial specification is equivalent to total of quantity and scrap (quantity + scrap). Shrinkage recorded in commercial specification is equivalent to waste in product specification.

- Quantity of commercial specification is equivalent to total of quantity, scrap and waste (quantity + scrap + waste). Shrinkage recorded in commercial specification is equivalent zero (0).

  • This is followed by checking of item types set in the Component Item Type box. Lines containing items that do not belong to any of the types will not be copied.
  • Checking Take into Account Set-Up Time affects calculation of volume in operations. Having checked it the volume in operations is calculated so that the amount of set-up time is added to production time and this is divided by optimum quantity of source item as entered in the Items register.
  • Before actually starting to copy, it checks for quantity (batch) of item in destination specification. If it is zero (0), value one (1) is used in recalculated quantity requirements. Because volume cannot be set in commercial specification, maximum amount of volume requires to be identified for source specification. If it is greater than the item quantity (batch) in destination specification, then the maximum volume will be used in calculation. In addition, it will also be entered in the Items register. Other lines of commercial specification are recalculated proportionately.
  • Waste shrinkage is calculated according to the percentage of waste. Commercial specification does not include scrap.
  • Check Copy Sublevels for items of item type P, C or U. This way specifications will be copied to sublevels.
  • If lines of phantom assembly - that is, item types C orU - are included in the specification and you checked parameter Compound Goods and Services as Phantoms, IDs of components of phantom assembly are recorded instead of phantom assembly ID. Having checked Copy Sublevels it does not copy phantom assemblies in product specification. Here the required quantites of phantom item are used when trying to calculate volume.
  • Copying lines to destination specification depends on the mode you selected.
    • Overwrite Spec

Use this mode to overwrite a specification.

    • Append at End of Spec

If selected, lines of source specification will be appended at the end of destination specification.

    • Add Missing Spec Lines

If source specification contains a line of phantom assembly and you checked Compound Goods and Services as Phantoms, you cannot select the option. The reason for this lies in line numbering because a line with the same ID could be recorded thus causing line records to be incorrectly numbered in destination specification. Otherwise, it is first checked whether a record with the same line number and alternate already exists in specification. If so, the line is not copied.
