FA - Disposal

The FA – Disposal form is used to dispose of one or multiple fixed assets (FAs) simultaneously. All the fields are read-only and cannot be edited. Disposal of FA or small tools is performed after depreciation is calculated up to the disposal date, ensuring the written-off and carrying values are accurately established.

If the FA has previously been revalued (either upward or downward), corresponding reversal postings must be made during the disposal process.

The form can be accessed from the Fixed assets and Small Tools registers, by right-clicking in the Value tab.

Hint

Examples of how to use the FA – Disposal form are described on the corresponding pages of the User Manual for PANTHEON.

The FA - Disposal form consists of the following functional units :

Deactivation Date Specifies the date on which the selected FAs will be officially deactivated. By default, this field is populated with the current date, but it can be manually adjusted if the deactivation occurred on a different date, often aligning with the FA’s final operational day.
Status Defines the new Status which will be assigned to the disposed FAs. The default is NA (Inactive), but it can be changed using the drop-down menu.

Find FA

(Find Fixed Asset)

Provides a quick search function for locating a specific FA within the list. Entering the FA’s inventory number and pressing Enter will highlight the corresponding FA row with a distinct black border.

Dispose button

Initiates the disposal process for the selected FAs. This action opens the General Ledger with a new journal entry reflecting the disposal. Simultaneously, a new Entry Type 6 – Disposal of Fixed Asset is created in the Value tab. This ensures that the disposal is properly reflected in both the FA management and accounting records.

Hint
  • If a FA has been incorrectly disposed of, the associated disposal entry can be removed. This is done by right-clicking the relevant entry within the Value tab and selecting Delete FA Disposal.
  • For detailed instructions on how to delete the disposal, see chapter Deleting Fixed Asset Disposal.

Sel.

(Select)
Checkboxes allow selection of one or more FAs for disposal. Right-click to select or deselect all.

Inventory No.

(Inventory Number)

Lists the Inventory Numbers of all active FAs that have not been disposed of or deactivated.

Warning

FAs that have already been deactivated or disposed of will not appear in this list.

Name The primary Name of the FA, such as Fence, Building or Computer.
Name 2 An optional secondary Name for further identification of the FA. It complements the main Name field and helps distinguish between similar FAs. For example, Lenovo ThinkPad T16, when the main Name field is simply Computer.
Date Reflects the Date on which the most recent change was recorded in the Value tab for the corresponding FA. This helps in verifying that the FA information is current before proceeding with disposal.
Value Indicates the current book Value of the FA. This is automatically calculated by subtracting any accumulated depreciation or value adjustments from the original acquisition cost.
