Advanced Upgrade
1. Open Administration Panel
Go to Settings | Program and click Administration Panel to open it.

Go to Upgrade/About | Upgrade in the tree view on the left side.

Select Advanced Upgrade (set parameters) in the Upgrade Mode box.

 |
Advanced upgrade is only recommended for the experienced users with a broad knowledge of steps, which have to be carried out in the upgrade. |
Set the field for simple upgrade (save data, transfer, upgrade).

Below are basic parameters, which have to be set for the upgrade:
- Upgrades - Here you set the path, where the data, transferred from the Internet will be saved at the time of the upgrade. The path (directories), which is set here is a LOCAL PATH, as can be observed on the computer on which you are carrying out the upgrades. It can be entered as local path in case of mapped drive (for example F:\DATALAB\UPGRADE) or (recommended) in UNC notation, if the network share directory is set \\SERVERNAME\DATALAB\UPGRADE.
- Backup - Here you set the path, where the safety copy of the database and program is being saved when upgrading. The path (directories), which is set here is a LOCAL PATH as seen by the server. You can enter it as a local path of the server (for example C:\MSSQL\BACKUP, where C:\MSSQL directory is on the server, or in the UNC notation, if the net share is set on the directory for saving \\SERVERNAME\BACKUP.
- Executable - Here you set the path to working directory, where the program executable PANTHEON.EXE is placed.
- Wait n sec before Copying New Executable - Set the waiting time, needed for quitting from the program and its copying - in seconds. If it is determined at the start that the database is more recent than the executable (EXE), which is being used, it will automatically finish its operations. Run the waiting process (COPYDELAY.EXE), which will wait for the program to finish its operations, and then copy the new version of the program from the Upgrades directory to the Temp directory.

- Backup Executables - Check it to save the backup copies of the software, which are being reloaded in case of unsuccessful upgrade. Leave it unchecked, if you do not wish the backup copy of the software to be saved.
- Backup Database Check it to save database backup copies to be reloaded in case of unsuccessful upgrade.
Leave it unchecked, if you do not wish the backup copy of database to be saved.
- Online Upgrade - Check it if you are upgrading via the internet.
Only check in case you are upgrading through the contemporary code and transfer the files needed to upgrade manually (for example on the CD-ROM). The data is only important for the computer, from which it is being upgraded.
- Download Upgrades - Check it to transfer new data from the Internet to the Upgrades directory. Leave it unchecked if upgrades have already been transferred to the Upgrades directory (for example transferring files from the CD-ROM, or if they have already been transferred in the previous cycle of the upgrade).
- Full DB Upgrade (not differential) - Check it in order not to perform a differential upgrade. In such case, the upgrade will transfer the whole scheme of tables and SQL procedures from the first build and check that all the tables are exactly as they should be in the final build. This option is used when you suspect that one of the previous upgrades did not complete its work and to ensure that the structure is adequate. Do not check to perform a differential upgrade (only when transferring changes).
- Upgrade To - Select it during release version (tested by DataLab), which is being issued on a regular basis and the working (BETA) version, which is not tested by DataLab. You only upgrade to beta version to check certain functionality between two build issues.
We strongly discourage you from the use of beta upgrades for systems, that are running in real time and we cannot be held responsible for them!
- Upgrade Database - Check it to upgrade the database in the procedure of upgrading.
Leave it unchecked in order not to upgrade the database in the procedure of upgrading.
- Databases on Server - Here databases are offered by the program in this window, where all PANTHEON's databases, which are placed on the server are being displayed. An individual database can: - be checked and thus included in the upgrade, or - unchecked and thus excluded from the upgrade.Use this option when you wish only to upgrade a certain database.
- Internal Checkboxes - They are checked by default, regardless of the type of upgrade: Upgrade DB structures, Fill Authorizations, Fill Reports, Fill Procedures.
- Upgrade All Objects If checked, upgrades all objects ragardless of changes being made or not. If left unchecked, only those objects get upgraded which are different between the two versions. This way upgrade is done faster if performed on a regular basis.
- Upgrade Executable - Check it to upgrade executables (.EXE).
Leave it unchecked in order not to upgrade them.
Whne upgrading database with the existing structures the following message appears (see
The structure of your database is already at the new version! Do you want to upgrade the structure again?)
 |
In case, when our company does not have the tax number entered, the upgrade will not succeed. In such case the IRIS message window will be displayed, where you can complete this data (see
5184 Our company has no tax ID defined!). |
 |
After every upgrade, it is advised to run
Create ZEUS Cubes (in case you are using Zeus). It is recommended to use
automatic processing which is run automatically with the adequate setting of the cube. |

The option that the program will inform you about the finished upgrade is also available. It is required that you enter the e-mail address and subject or title of the e-mail.
Click
to launch upgrade.
