1. Open Administration Panel

Go to Settings | Program and click Administration Panel to open it.

Go to Upgrade/About | Upgrade in the tree view on the left side.

Simple upgrade is intended for upgrades for all inexperienced users. All parameters needed for the upgrade are already set. 27695.gif

Set the field for simple upgrade (save data, transfer, upgrade).

Below are basic parameters, which have to be set for the upgrade:

  • Upgrades - Here you set the path, where the data, transferred from the Internet will be saved at the time of the upgrade. The path (directories), which is set here is a LOCAL PATH, as can be observed on the computer on which you are carrying out the upgrades. It can be entered as local path in case of mapped drive (for example F:\DATALAB\UPGRADE) or (recommended) in UNC notation, if the network share directory is set \\SERVERNAME\DATALAB\UPGRADE.
  • Backup - Here you set the path, where the safety copy of the database and program is being saved when upgrading. The path (directories), which is set here is a LOCAL PATH as seen by the server. You can enter it as a local path of the server (for example C:\MSSQL\BACKUP, where C:\MSSQL directory is on the server, or in the UNC notation, if the net share is set on the directory for saving \\SERVERNAME\BACKUP.
  • Executable - Here you set the path to working directory, where the program executable PANTHEON.EXE is placed.
  • Wait n sec before Copying New Executable - Set the waiting time, needed for quitting from the program and its copying - in seconds. If it is determined at the start that the database is more recent than the executable (EXE), which is being used, it will automatically finish its operations. Run the waiting process (COPYDELAY.EXE), which will wait for the program to finish its operations, and then copy the new version of the program from the Upgrades directory to the Temp directory.

Upgrade is performed in the following way after clicking 26793.gif:

  • First a backup copy of the database will be created in the directory, set in the Backup field.
  • This is follewed by the backup copy of the executable in the directory, set in the Executable field. In case this upgrade not being successful, it automatically restores two backup copies and thus allows work with previous version.
  • It transfers files needed for upgrade from the Internet and save them to the Upgrades directory.
  • After successfully transferring, the program upgrades all databases, which are on the server, on which the database you are upgrading is located.
  • After upgrading of databases a message telling that it completed successfully is returned.

In order to receive notification check E-Mail Notification. It is required that you enter e-mail address and subject or title of the e-mail message.

The simple upgrade always uses differential upgrade (difference updated data between the current and new version are being transferred) and in this way saves time needed for upgrading.

Having finished upgrading, close the program and run it again. Version of executable (.exe) will be changed automatically.
