Cattle entry

Cattle are farm animals raised for breeding and various uses. Most often, the veterinarian visits the animal owner in the field or at the location of the animal. During the first examination, the veterinarian first enters the animal into the program, where a unique code for the animal is created.
In this chapter, we will present an example of creating a new code for cattle (manually). The functionality is located in the menu Veterinarian | Registers | Owners and animals, tab Cattle.
 |
WARNING
In Slovenia, cattle identification is mandatory. The national database VOLOS keeps track of all animal identification tags and their movements. PANTEHON VET users can import data on cattle. Read more in the chapter VOLOS.

CASE SUMMARY
A veterinarian on the field regularly vaccinates cattle. At the location of the farm owned by Eva Angus, the veterinarian will first list the cattle, which they will also vaccinate. The process of creating a new animal code will be carried out in the following steps:
- Searching for the owner's code
- Entering data on the General tab
- Entering data on the Cattle tab
- Printing animal data
|
1. Searching for the owner's code
The person responsible on the field first checks or searches for the owner's code, where they can then create a new code for the animal. The detailed procedure for searching for the owner is described in the chapter Searching for an owner or animal in the register.
 |
WARNING
If the owner is not yet registered in the PANTHEON VET program, the person responsible first enters the owner, then the animal. For more detailed instructions, see the chapter Adding a new owner.
|
2. Entering data on the General tab
The person responsible on the field registers the animal in the PANTHEON VET program. A detailed procedure for entering basic animal data on the General tab is described in the chapter Animal entry (general).
 |
WARNING
In Slovenia, farm animals are tied to the location of the setting, the so-called Holdings, KMG-MID (or GMID). For this purpose, an additional field Holdings automatically appears on the animal tabs for entering the required data.
- If the owner has only one Holding, which is entered in the Owner's Register, it is automatically filled in the Holdings field on the General tab for the animal.
- If the owner has multiple Holdings locations, on the General tab for the animal, in the Holdings field, the person responsible selects the appropriate one from the drop-down list.

HINT
For more detailed information about the program forms, see the Holdings chapter.

The image below shows the final entry of data on cattle made by the person responsible on the field.

3. Entering data on the Cattle tab
After entering the basic animal data, the appropriate tab is created depending on the selected animal type. In our case, the tab Cattle was created.
 |
HINT
The data entered on the tab Cattle is for informational purposes only, i.e. the data is not mandatory.
|
In our case, the person responsible selects 1-Cattle from the drop-down list in the field Bull dam.
In the field Color (o), they select Black from the drop-down list.

4. Printing animal data
If the person responsible wants to check the data on the cattle or print it out to the owner, he/she does so in the manner described in detail in the chapter Animal entry (general).
The image below shows a printout of data on the cattle herd made by the person responsible on the field.
