Entering a chart of accounts in PANTHEON

Before entering books in the general ledger, you need a well-ordered chart of accounts. PANTHEON already includes a basic chart of accounts, which you can add to, reduce or expand as necessary.

Below is an example of how to enter an chart of accounts into PANTHEON.

CASE SUMMARY

Ashley Accountant, Head of Finance and Accounting at Tecta, wants to enter a chart of accounts. The chart of accounts is the basis for posting invoices received and issued, preparation of payroll, VAT and other tasks, in short, for the work of the Accounting Department. The chart of accounts is imported by the person responsible as follows:

1. Creating a new record

2. Entering general information

3. Methods for entering a chart of accounts

1. Creating a new record

To enter the chart of accounts, the person responsible opens the menu Settings | Accounting | Chart of accounts and the window Chart of accounts opens.

In the toolbar, the button  is clicked to create a new record.

A warning message appears: You have clicked the button for creating a new chart of accounts. Do you really want to create a new chart of accounts or only add a new account?

The option Create new chart of accounts is selected.

2. Entering general information

In the field Name, the name of the chart of accounts is manually entered, in this case: Tecta chart of accounts.

The checkbox Active chart of Accounts is checked.

In the field Validity date, the date of validity is selected, in this case: 4. 05. 2022.

The entry is confirmed by clicking the button Post edit.

A pop-up window with the following question opens: Copy accounts from the active chart of accounts to the new chart of accounts?

The person responsible clicks Cancel, because a new chart of accounts without the existing accounts should be created.

3. Methods for entering a chart of accounts

The chart of accounts is downloaded from the server.

In the toolbar, the button Import/export data is clicked and the option Transfer registers is selected.
