Settings (Groups)

The Settings form allows you to create a new or edit an existing user group.

The form can be accessed by clicking the individual panel of group on the Groups panel in Administration Panel.

The form is made up of certain elements, which are described below.

(Add New Group) Opens an empty form for entering a new group.
(Save ) Saves the entered data.
(Discard Changes ) Discards the entered data.
(Add New User)  Adds a new user to the existing group.
Name

Name of the user group.

HINT

If you are trying to enter a name which already exists in the database, an error is displayed. Read more in the chapter User group with that name already exists!

Note Enter a note for the user group.
Touchscreen Profile From the drop-down list, select touchscreen profile if users in the group use POS. When users from group log in into POS, the selected touchscreen profile will be opened.

HINT

To make it easier to check the settings of different users, you can open the form in a separate tab or window. Read more in the chapter Settings (Comparing permissions).

WARNING
  1. By default, the newly created user is not a member of any user group.
  2. A user may be a member of multiple user groups at once. In this case, the user inherits the highest/top permissions of the user group.
  3. Permissions that are explicitly set for a user are not inherited from the user group.
  4. User permissions take precedence over the permissions of the user group.  For example, Usergroup1 has Select (Read) permissions on Items registers and Usergroup2 has Update (Write) permissions on Items registers. The user that is assigned to both user groups will inherit the Update (Write) permission, which is higher.
