Alternate Lines in Specifications

By using alternate lines in specifications correctly you can shorten time for preparation in manufacturing as well as decreasing the scope of data management. Should you, on the other hand, using alternate lines too often can make specifications rather untransparent. This can lead to not having up-to-date data available, subsequently leading to worse planning and various key performance indicators showing you ROI of manufacturing.

Make use of up to 250 alternates in individual assembly in manufacturing MF module. Alternates can be used in the following two ways. The first method is more transparent enabling you the use of one active alternate for individual assembled item. The second method allows, according to the mode of integrating to parent assemblies, more than one active alternates to be used for individual assembled item.

Set methods for using alternates in Administration Panel by checking Use Alternates for Spec Sublevels. by default it is unchecked and with this the first method is selected. That is, only one active alternate possible for individual assembly. You can select other methods after you check it. In this case allowing more active alternates for individual assembly.

We have prepared two specifications using alternates. One shows use of one active alternate for individual assembly and the second one shows example of specification where multiple active alternates are used for individual assembly.
