Automatic Synchronisation of the Program Version with the Database Version

Accounting firms access their client's databases, where they carry out accounting services for them.
It can occur that, for valid reasons, a company submits a request on the User site, saying that they do not want an upgrade. In that case, the version of the hosting database on the server where the upgrade was carried out will be different from the version of the rest of the databases on the server.
 |
WARNING
- The program and database version which we are entering must be synchronised. Otherwise, logging in is not possible, because the performance of the program would be incorrect or interrupted.
-
Only the program version can be synchronised with the database version.
The reverse process (synchronising the database version with the program version) is not possible!

HINT
After the database upgrade, during the first opening of the login window to log in to the upgraded database, a notification is displayed, that a new version of the program, which will now be installed on to your work station, is available on server.

CASE SUMMARY
Pecunia Accounting firm accesses their clients' databases. Because one of the companies that they do accounting for submitted a request to Datalab, asking for their database to not be upgraded, the accountant does not currently have the same version of the program that is required for the database that they are entering into.
To avoid causing the accountants problems with synchronising the program version on their work station with the database versions on server, the process automatically detects the different versions upon opening the login window, and synchronizes them in reverse as well, i.e. it downgrades the program version. This happens as follows:
|
The person responsible in accounting logs in to the database of the client, for whom they do accounting.
The system automatically checks the program versions and database versions upon logging in.
Because the version of the program is higher than the database version, the FTP system automatically transfers the start-up file for PANTHEON (for the login window) from the server, and by doing that, synchronizes the program with the version of the database that they are entering into.
