Grazing

Grazing calculator

Grazing calculator enables estimated calculation of grazing parameters. It is not linked with existing functionalities so most of the information have to be inserted manually.

In calculator header user has to add pasture properties. Dry matter is by default set on 180 g/ha, but user can change it with another value in list. Grazing quantity is estimated quantity of forage before grazing starts. Residue quantity is estimated or expected forage quantity after pasture. Field size is added automatically from pasture size.

When properties are inserted, user sets calculation parameter. He can choose between:

  • Grazing days: how many grazing days are needed.
  • No. of animals: how many animals are needed on pasture.
  • DM/animals: how much dry matter will animal ingest.

when parameter is calculated and saved, it will be visible on grazing as additional information to plan pasture.

Grazing days

If user selects gazing days as calculation, he has to additionally insert number of animals and dry matter per animal for calculation. Grazing days will be calculated automatically.

Number of animals

To calculate number of animals, user has to insert expected dry matter per animals and expected grazing days. Number of animals will be calculated automatically.

Dry matter per animal

To calculate expected dry matter per animal, user has to insert number of animals on pasture and expected grazing days. Expected dry matter per animal will be calculated automatically.
