ATENA is currently available only for PANTHEON 5.0! |
Most online store solutions use separate databases.

The transaction system (tracking orders, invoices, payments, delivery) is
stored in one (or even more) database and e-business data in another.
Every detail (e.g. item name, price, customer, etc.) is entered into the
e-business database in order to become available in the store. A copy needs
to be entered in the transaction system for the order to be processed.
Doubled data can lead to inconsistencies between the databases, e.g. data in
the e-business database is changed but the transaction database is not
updated, or a new product is entered in the transaction database but not in
the e-business database therefore it is not available in the online store.
So the ordering process is as follows: placed orders are sent to the
transaction database in regular intervals (e.g. at night) and then to the
e-business database. These delays can cause oboslete data.
Separate databases require more work and consequently greater costs.
Furthermore, the e-business solution is often not directly compatible with
the transaction system, and requires customization which represents
additional costs and reliability problems when upgrading software.
ATENA employs a more efficient method.

There is only one database containing all data. If an item is added into
the transaction system, it automatically becomes available in e-business.
Orders placed in e-business are instantly available in the transaction
system.
Billing, statistics, and control of e-business are carried out in the
transaction system, like all other business activities.
E-business maintenance cost is practically zero. Data maintained in the
transaction system is simultaneously maintained for e-business.
Because PANTHEON and ATENA are fully compatible and use the same
procedures, documents in e-business are identical to documents in the
transaction system.
New versions of software do not require any changes for the user. It is
sufficient to replace PANTHEON and ATENA with new versions. No further
programming or customization is necessary.
ATENA can be most simply described as a different type of view of
PANTHEON's data.
