The lookup window is used to browse,
sort and filter
data.
It is opened by clicking the down-pointing arrow or typing in the field between
navigation buttons.

Open lookup table also by clicking
or by trying to enter
in field.
An important difference between the lookup window and the lookup list is
that data in a lookup window can be browsed and searched, while data in a lookup
list can be filtered only in the first column (usually a number or identifier).
Like the name implies, a lookup window opens up in a new window, and the lookup
list behaves more like a drop-down menu.
- On the top is a drop-down menu where the sort criterion can be selected.
This has the same effect as clicking a column header (see
Sorting data in a lookup window). On any occasion
you open the lookup table, data will be filtered according to the set unique
ID of records in the database (usually a number in orders or identifier
for materials,...). Select sort by term (e.g. by number). To the right of
the drop-down menu is a text field for searching in the selected column.
The selection jumps to the first item that matches the text entered here.
- Below it is the filtering panel, which is initially hidden (see
Filtering Data in a Lookup Window). It is
used to filter entries and can be used in combination with sorting.
- The largest part of the window is the list of entries that match the
criteria specified above. Use scrollbars or cursor keys to browse the list
if it is to large to fit in the window.
