VOLOS

Program PANTHEON VET enables the import of cattle data directly from the portal VOLOS to speed up data entry and reduce the possibility of errors.

In this chapter, we will present an example of importing animal data - cattle from the VOLOS portal. The functionality is located in the menu Veterinary | Registers | Owner and Animal Register, by clicking the button VOLOS.

TIP

Read more detailed information about the program's forms in the PANTHEON VET Guide, in the chapter Cattle and Data Import from VOLOS.

WARNING

On the form Owner/Animal Entry the button  becomes active only if a number is entered in the field GMID .

CASE DESCRIPTION

A veterinarian in the field performs regular cattle vaccinations. At the farm location of the owner Gregor Holstein, they will first list the cattle to be vaccinated. Since the herd is large, the cattle data will be fully imported from the VOLOS portal. The procedure for importing animal codes will be carried out with the following steps:

  1. Searching for the owner's code
  2. Entering the GMID number
  3. Connecting to the VOLOS portal
  4. Data completion and import

1. Searching for the owner's code

The responsible person in the field first checks or searches for the owner's code, where the animal codes will be imported from the VOLOS portal. A detailed procedure for searching for the owner is described in the chapter Searching for an Owner or Animal in the Register.

WARNING

If the owner is not yet entered in the PANTHEON VET program, the responsible person first enters the owner, then the animal. More detailed instructions can be found in the chapter Adding a New Owner.

2. Entering the GMID number

The responsible person has found the code for the owner Gregor Holstein. Now they check the validity of the GMID number.

  • In the field GMID they enter the correct designation of the agricultural holding or the location of the barn where the cattle are located.

  • They click the button Save and this activates the button VOLOS.

TIP

When the owner has their animals at different locations, it is necessary to enter different GMIDs. Read more about different GMID codes in the chapter GMIDs.

3. Connecting to the VOLOS portal

WARNING

To connect to the VOLOS portal, you must first arrange access credentials. More detailed information on obtaining access to the VOLOS portal can be found on the website GOV.SI.

  • The responsible person clicks the button VOLOS. A new window opens for importing data from VOLOS.

  • The field GMID is automatically filled in because the responsible person has already entered the data in the owner's register.

  • They continue by entering the access credentials for the VOLOS portal. They enter them in the fields Username and Password.

  • The responsible person clicks the button Download Data.

  • Upon successful connection to the VOLOS portal, a list of animals currently registered to the owner in the portal appears at the bottom of the screen.

  • In our case, the responsible person will import all animals, so in the column Select they check all animals.

4. Data completion and import

The responsible person now continues with completing the selected cattle data. They must fill in the data or column Animal Category.

  • On the keyboard, they press Ctrl + Shift to select all animals to assign the same category (cow, bull, calf).

  • In our case, all are female cattle - cows. They click in the field Animal Category with the right mouse button and choose the offered option: Set for Selected > Type > Cow.

  • To finalize the data transfer to the PANTHEON VET database, they click the button Add and Update,  located in the bottom right corner of the screen.

After the transfer, the list of animals appears on the owner's code form.
