Using an insurance policy for an animal
Pet owners can choose to involve the insurance company for coverage of veterinary treatment costs. In this case, it is necessary to enter the details of the insurance company, the insurance policy, the percentage of co-payment, etc. in the document handling tab, Insurance.

Below we present an example of using an animal insurance policy in the document handling.

CASE DESCRIPTION
Valentin the Veterinarian performed a surgical procedure to remove a tumor from the mammary glands of the dog Poppy, owned by Jasna Jerebičar. The responsible person in the document handling CLI1-Surgery enters the insurance details of the dog and the percentage of the insurance company's co-payment for covering the payment amount. This is done in the following steps:
- Creating a document handling
- Entering the insurance policy
- Creating an insurance claim

1. Creating a document handling
The responsible person creates a new document handling: 23-CLI1-000001.
The process of creating a new document handling can be read in the chapter Entering handling.

In the tab Handling the diagnosis is appropriately entered. In our case, the diagnosis added is: MAMMARY TUMOR.

Continues to enter the details of the animal's insurance policy for covering the percentage of the surgical procedure costs.
2. Entering the insurance policy
The responsible person positions themselves on the tab Insurance.

WARNING
The tab Insurance is only visible when selecting Type of handling: Individual handling.

In the lower part of the window, the responsible person enters the relevant details.
In the field Insurance company selects the appropriate insurance company from the drop-down list. Insurance company Triglav d.d.
Manually enters Policy No.: 125489635.
Enters the co-payment percentage from the insurance policy in the field Co-payment %. In our case: 10.
In the field Insurance ID selects or enters the insurance ID, which serves for deducting the value on the invoice covered by the insurance: INSURANCE.
Determines the validity of the insurance policy. In our case Valid from: 1.1.2021 and Valid until 01.01.2031.
Continues with the selection of Type of service. In our case, selects the type of service in the field: TP_SURGICAL.

WARNING
The field Type of service appears if in the field Insurance company the insurance company set in Settings | Program | Administrator console, in the menu Settings | Veterinary on the Insurance tab.

Saves the data by clicking the button Save and completes the document handling by clicking the button Complete handling.

3. Creating an insurance claim
The responsible person for the described handling creates an insurance claim.
