Calculating Revaluation Rates

You can simply copy revaluation rate values from the table published in IKS, the accounting magazine.

You can make your work easier also by entering the cumulative revaluation factors (that is, rates in the first table column). All other dependent data can be calculated by using the Calculate function that can be found in the wizards menu.

Revaluation rates can be calculated in the same way as is performed by the Association of Accountants, Treasurers, and Auditors of Slovenia publishing them in IKS- (see explanation on calculating rates in IKS 10/01, p. 156 ).

The Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia (SURS ) publishes rates of growth of retail prices on a monthly and annual basis. The two for, the basis for revaluation. By doing so there can occur a difference between the calculated monthly rate and the monthly rate as published by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia (SURS ).

For example let us take a look at the year 2001: Growth of Retail Prices

  Growth of Retail Prices
Month Monthly Rate Cumulative Rate
January 0.004 0.004
February 0.011 0.015
March 0.011 0.026
April 0.007 0.033
May 0.011 0.045
June 0.004 0.049
July 0.002 0.051
August 0.000 0.051
September 0.009 0.060

000001.gif Cumulative rate of growth of retail prices can be considered as fundamental data, yet all other rates need to be calculated!
000001.gif Add 1 to all rates as required by the calculation, and later when entering data deduct 1 from data in revaluation rate table.

To calculate rates enter only cumulative rates:

All other data depend on them and can be calculated by using the Calculate function.

Example:

Calculated revaluation rate for fixed asset with the following data:

- Fixed asset acquisition in February 2001 (cumulative rate 1.015)

- Fixed asset disposal in May 2001 (cumulative rate 1.045)

Calculation:

1.045 / 1.015 = 1.0295565..

or rounded to 3 decimal points: 1.030

000001.gif Deduct 1 from all data of the above table to be used in revaluation rates table.

It can occur that individual rate differs from the one published by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia (SURS) due to such method of calculating used. Thus it occurred in May 2001 when the published rate values were 0.011, and the rate values calculated using the method described above were 0.012.

Calculation:

1.045 / 1.033 = 1.01161665..

or rounded to 3 decimal points: 1.012
