Date Fields

Date Fields

A special type of alphanumeric input fields are date fields. Date fields are used for entering dates in the form of a two-digit number of the day, a two-digit number of the month and a three-digit number of the year,

Table of contents

  1. Date field entry
  2. Selection table – calendar

1. Date field entry

We can enter the desired date directly into the date fields. Dates are entered without punctuation, but written and displayed with punctuation. The character representing the punctuation mark will be taken from the Windows Environment settings.

HINT

Only part of the date can be entered into the date fields, the rest is filled in by the program itself. The date is always automatically filled in for the current month and year.

  • EXAMPLE: In May 2022, if the user enters the number 6 into the date field and presses Enter, the date will automatically be updated to 06.05.2022.

2. Selection table – calendar

In the program, date fields appear as a special type of selection table – a calendar.

We select the desired date from the calendar using the mouse or by using the cursor buttons and confirm the selection by pressing Enter.

The left part of the selection table contains (for information purposes) the number of the current week of the year.

We can move through the date fields by clicking the icon, which moves us back for one month, or the icon, which moves us forward for one month. The same applies to the year selection.

Clicking the Today button in the calendar selects the current date.

Clicking the Delete button deletes the data in the date field.

We can also select the desired month by left-clicking and holding the name of the currently-selected month. The selection table opens, we hover the cursor over the desired month and release. The selected month will appear in the calendar.
