General Information

General information from lines can also be viewed in the panel of the same name. Here you can find standard quantities required in assembly. You can set fields in Program Parameters in Active Fields box in Manufacturing | General. Below you can observe fields appearing in the General panel. However, you can set in Active Fields that only the Quantity field is displayed and hide Net/1 and Gross/1 fields.

Activ. Alt. Sublevel

Enter or select a sublevel of active alternate. Select among the following:
  • All
  • Active
  • Act. Sublevel
  • Enter or select a number of alternate of specification.

The field is only visible with item type P,C and U and if you previously checked Use Alternates for Spec Sublevels that can be found in Administration Panel | Specification | General.

Quantity Enter quantity in line of specification. The quantity is expressed in the default primary unit of measurement used and set volume for "Batch" (in batch assembly it is normally set to "1"). Usually, it is the net quantity required in assembly. Having checked Scrap and Waste Included in Quantity in Program Parameters | Manufacturing | General, you can also specify gross quantity.
Volume Enter or select number of units ranging from 1 to 1,000,000 units. That is, if you select 1,000 units, the volume is exrpessed for production of 1000 units.
Batch Enter number of units that represents a batch (number of units of measurement, charge, the minimum required production amount - actual production amount must be its multiplier). The required production amount is given for batch specific U/M (number).
Formula Enter or select a formula in order to calculate quantity of material required to produce a certain amount of product.

U/M Enter or select a unit of measurement used with item. The lookup table includes units of measurement as defined in the Items register: That is, primary U/M which is the main unit, secondary U/M that can be set by the collective U/M and customs U/M which is tertiary.
When changing the unit of measurement for item in specification, the quantity, scrap and waste are changed automatically.
Scrap Qty Enter quantity of scrap (in Scrap Qty) or an estimate in case of expressing scrap in %) in batch-specific primary U/M used with item. Either enter it here or in field below where you can enter scrap as percentage value (%). It directly affects calculation of gross/net volume. In accordance with standard, scrap comprises a part of material which cannot be reused to any furhter effect due to its own characteristics as well as the character of manufacturing process. It represents leftover materials of a manufacturing process and is tracked as such - that is, it is removed or warehoused under its own ID.
Srap % Likewise, you can enter (or calculate) percentage of scrap (in Scrap %) from the whole volume.
Scrap Enter or select a scrap ID when scrap is returned to warehouse as residue of manufacturing process and is then removed or used to some other effect. Normally the corresponding ID is not displayed here.
Waste Qty Enter quantity of waste (in Waste Qty) or an estimate in case of expressing waste in %) in batch-specific primary U/M. Either enter it here or in the field below where you can enter waste as percentage value (%). It directly affects calculation of gross/net volume. As distinct from scrap, waste does not occur as material residue during manufacturing process. Or better it is not recorded as such.
Waste % Likewise, you can enter (or calculate) percentage of waste (in Waste %) from the whole volume.
Net/1 Displays net quantity used in assembling batch quantities.
Gross/1 Displays gross quantity required for batch assembly.
Quantity Displays net quantity required in batch assembly. The quantity field is not displayed in the image above. It appears instead of Net/1 and Gross/1 fields if you set it in program settings in Administration Panel | Program Parameters | Manufacturing | General | Active Fields - that is, you deselected the Waste field. You can set Scrap and Waste Included in Quantity in the Active Fields box in Administration Panel | Program Parameters | Manufacturing | General. In this case enter quantity as gross quantity and after recalculation is done the field will display required net volume.

You can specify names of fields for scrap and waste in Administration Panel | Program Parameters | Manufacturing | Specifications | Field Captions.
