Creating a new item

Creating a new item is a feature used to enter new items (products, semi-finished products, materials, goods, services) into the database. For a newly created ident, all the necessary data can be entered.

HINT

For more information on the form for entering item data, see the chapter New item.

This chapter describes how to create a new item – an aluminium bar – as the material for the tents.

CASE SUMMARY

The person responsible wants to enter a new item for the material aluminium bar with code ALU-B251000. For this purpose, the person responsible opens the form for entering item data from the list of items and enters the general data, value, classification and item type, the supplier's data and the unit of measure. Finally, the person responsible saves the data entered. This is done as follows:

  1. Opening the form for entering item data
  2. Entering general item data
  3. Defining the item value
  4. Defining the item classification and type
  5. Entering the data on supplier and stock
  6. Defining the unit of measurement

1. Opening the form for entering item data

To enter new item, the person responsible selects Registers | Items from the main menu. The list of items is displayed, where the person responsible clicks the button New item in the command line.

A blank form for entering data opens.

2. Entering general item data

The person responsible starts entering the general data of the item.

By enabling the toggle button Active, the person responsible specifies that the item is active and can be used in documents.

In the field Code/item, the person responsible specifies the code of the item: ALU-B251000.

In the field Item name, the person responsible enters the name of the item: ALUMINIUM BAR – D=25 1000mm.

3. Defining the item value

In the field Supplier price, the person responsible defines the net purchase price: 2,12.

In the field Sale price, the person responsible defines the net sales price of the product, in this case 5, and selects 2B - 22,00 - Goods, VAT accounted at 22% from the list of the field Tax rate. As a result, the value in the field Retail price is automatically recalculated.

4. Defining the item classification and type

The person responsible then defines the classification and the item type. From the list of the field Primary classification, the person responsible selects ALU_POLES – ALUMINIUM POLES FOR INDUSTRIAL TENTS. From the list of the field Item type, the person responsible selects M – Material.

5. Entering the data on supplier and stock

The person responsible then specifies the supplier's details.

In the field Supplier code, the person responsible enters: BD251000.

From the list of subjects in the field Main supplier, the person responsible selects Tent Materials Ltd.

The field Stock automatically displays the total stock of material in all company warehouses.

6. Defining the unit of measurement

Finally, the person responsible specifies the unit of measurement PCS - PCE - Pieces, which it selects from the list of the field Main U/M.

When all relevant data has been entered, the person responsible saves the changes by clicking the button Save in the command line of the form.
