Microsoft SQL Server

PANTHEON software needs a SQL sever in order to work. With smaller settings, the MS SQL 2019 Express version will suffice. If your network contains a larger number of PANTHEON users, you will need the Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Standard or higher version like Microfost SQL Server 2002 Express.

This chapter presents the differences between the free and paid SQL server versions:

  2019 Express 2019 Enterprise, Standard 2022 Express
Operation System

Windows Server 2016 or higher

Windows 10 TJ1 1507 or higher

Windows Server 2016 or higher

Windows 10 TJ1 1507 or higher

Windows Server 2016
Windows Server 2019
Windows Server 2022
Windows 10, Windows 11
Price Free 200 € + Free
Database Size up to 10 GB Unlimited up to 10 GB
OLAP No Yes Yes

For easier understanding, read the following user instructions referring to the program installation and necessary components. The instructions are divided into chapters:

Download and Installation

This chapter presents a case of installing the SQL server needed for functioning of the on-premises installation of PANTHEON.

Upgrading the SQL Server to the 2019  or 2022 Version

This chapter presents how to upgrade the SQL server to the 2019 version.

Microsoft Management Studio – Download and Installation

This chapter presents how to download and install Microsoft Management Studio.

Restoring Database onto SQL Server

The following instructions present how a user can restore a database onto the SQL server.

Adding Users to Server Level (AddUser_PAX)

These instructions present how to transfer users from database to the server, using the program package AddUser_PAX.

Installing SQL for External Access

This chapter presents how to (optionally) set the server if you want to access the data from the database from another work station in the same network.

Installing PANTHEON Clients

These instructions are intended for existing and new PANTHEON local users. They are based on an example of version:

WARNING
  1. For more information about SQL server editions and technical instructions, see the SQL Server websites.
  2. Microsoft SQL servers that run on the Linux operation system ARE NOT supported. The Microsoft SQL server on the Linux operation system does not support all features of servers on Windows operation systems, which means that PANTHEON cannot function properly.
  3. From January 2022, PANTHEON X is no longer supported on servers versions older than 2016. The Microsot SQL Server 2019 is recommended.
