Entering Materials

To enter material lines in the Basic Bill of Materials, use the dedicated Materials tab. In the lines, you can enter the items defined as material or product/half-finished product.

WARNING

When entering BOM lines, the order of entering material lines and work operation lines is very important. For more information, see the chapter Sequence of Lines and Operations.

Following is a case of entering material lines.

CASE SUMMARY

On the Materials tab of the BOM for item LARA3, Marc Manufacture edits the already added line LARA3_DOOR and defines data about refuse. Then, Marc adds a new material line SPIKE. This is done as follows:

  1. Opening the Materials tab
  2. Entering a new material line
  3. Editing existing material lines

1. Opening the Materials tab

The person responsible selects the tab for adding material linesMaterials in the window for editing Bills of Materials on the Basic BOM for item LARA3 (created in the Creating a Basic BOM case).

2. Entering a new material line

Similarly to other forms, the Line Details sub-form has its own specific toolbar.

Selecting the (Insert record) button opens a new line with empty fields for entering material line data.

From the drop-down list in the Item field, the person responsible selects the item SPIKE.

In the Quantity field, the person responsible enters the number 8.

The data in the line is saved by clicking the (Save Changes) button. After saving, the material line is visible in the table in the Materials and Bill of Materials tabs.

HINT

For more information about specifications of material lines in the table, click HERE.

3. Editing existing material lines

On the Materials tab, lines can also be edited. When a specific line is selected, general data about the material line are displayed in the lower part of the form.

HINT

You can change data in all basic data fields, like when entering a new line. For more information about general data fields, see the chapter General Information.

For more information about the User-Defined Fields and Regulations tabs, see the chapters User-defined Fields and Regulations.

The person responsible wants to edit the line for material SPIKE and change the necessary quantity to 10 pieces.

In the table, the person responsible clicks the line 30 – SPIKE.

Into the Quantity field, the person responsible enters the new value 10 and edits other line data if necessary.

Clicking the (Save Changes) button saves the new data to the line.
