Entering a work calendar

Work calendar is a calendar that determines the working days and the manufacturing work schedule in a company. In the calendar structure there is a superior work calendar that shows the available working hours for usage of the associated resources.

In the example below, we will take a look at the process of determining the work regime of the work calendar and entering a new subordinate work calendar in PANTHEON.

CASE SUMMARY:

The person responsible, Marc Manufacturing, wants to enter a new work calendar, the Sewing Calendar, which will be subordinate to the Manufacturing Calendar. The person responsible will create a new three-shift work regime and add it to the manufacturing calendar. Then the person responsible will create a new calendar, name it 0SE - Sewing Calendar and copy the data from the Manufacturing Calendar into the Sewing Calendar. Finally, the person responsible will place the newly entered Sewing Calendar in the structure as a subordinate of the Manufacturing Calendar. This is done as follows:

  1. Opening the Manufacturing Calendar
  2. Creating a new work schedule
  3. Determining the manufacturing work schedule
  4. Creating a new work calendar
  5. Copying the work calendar
  6. Editing the calendar structure

1. Opening the Manufacturing Calendar

The work calendar in Tecta is subordinate to the main company calendar and has information about holidays derived from it, days off, collective holidays, etc.

To view and edit calendars, the person responsible selects Settings | Program | Administration panel. In the Administration panel the person responsible selects Settings | Company | Calendar.

By selecting the (Next record) key, the person responsible looks for 0MF - Manufacturing calendar.

2. Creating a new work schedule

By double-clicking on the Working hours field, a window for creating a working time mode opens.

By clicking on the icon (New record) an empty form opens.

The person responsible enters RD6S in the ID field.

In the Name field, the person responsible selects Three shifts from the list.

The person responsible continues to enter the first shift in the empty form on the left.

In the Day field, the person responsible selects Today from the list.

In the Start field, the person responsible enters the time: 06:00 a.m.

In the End field, the person responsible enters the time: 02:00 p.m.

In the Type field, the person responsible selects the work type from the list: WRK - Regular work.

The person responsible enters a value of 100 in the Usage % field.

The person responsible continues in the same way with the entry of the remaining two shifts for the current day. Then repeats the same procedure for Day + 1, etc.

For Day + 5 and Day + 6 the person responsible enters only Type 111 - Weekend.

Warning

The information in the field Usage % is crucial for the correct capacity calculation.

3. Determining the manufacturing work schedule

At the Manufacturing Calendar level, the work schedule is defined, and then it is copied to the subordinate work calendars.

To determine the work schedule, the person responsible selects the icon (Fill in calendar). A window Copy Working hours appears.

In the ID field, from the register of Working Hours the person responsible selects RD6S – Three shifts.

In the Start  field, specifies the date 1/3/2023.

WARNING

It is important to choose the first working day of the year as the start date when copying the working hours into the calendar.

In the Period section, in the Start and End fields, the person responsible selects the period from 01/03/2023 to 12/29/2023.

Checks the checkboxes Overwrite existing records in calendars, Copy to child calendars and Skip absences.

4. Creating a new work calendar

To create a new calendar, the person responsible selects Settings | Manufacturing | Work schedule. The person responsible selects the button (Insert Record). An empty form opens where the person responsible enters the ID and name of the calendar in the Calendar field: 085 – Sewing calendar. Since it is a work calendar, the Calendar type field is automatically set to Resources.

5. Copying the work calendar

The sewing work calendar is subordinate to the manufacturing calendar, so the person responsible copies the manufacturing calendar to the sewing calendar to enter working hours.

This is done by right-clicking on any day in the calendar and selecting Copy. The Calendar wizard opens, where in the From calendar field the person responsible selects 0MF - Manufacturing calendar and in the To calendar field selects 0SE - Sewing Calendar.

By entering dates in the Date from/to fields, the person responsible selects the time period of the calendar year 2023. By selecting the Copy button, the person responsible copies the calendars.

He then proceeds to check the checkboxes Copy to child calendars and Overwrite existing records in calendars.

WARNING

When copying the manufacturing calendar, in the work calendar, the days off and the work schedule are overwritten, so it is not necessary to specify the schedule separately.
You can also set a different working time regime for it.

When copying, the work schedule is also overwritten, which can be checked by placing the mouse on any working day. A table with the estimated working hours for the day is displayed.

6. Editing the calendar structure

The sewing calendar is subordinate to the manufacturing calendar, so the person in charge wants to place it appropriately within the structure.

To view the hierarchy or calendar structures, the person responsible selects the tab Structure in the window Work calendars.

When created, the Sewing Calendar is on the same level as the Manufacturing Calendar, subordinate only to the Main Company Calendar.

To place the Sewing Calendar in the structure, as a subordinate calendar to the Manufacturing Calendar, the person responsible with the mouse function "drag and drop" transfers the Sewing Calendar and drops it to the position of the Manufacturing Calendar.

The Sewing Calendar is then seen in the structure as subordinate to the Manufacturing Calendar.
