Preset Ad-Hoc Analyses

Ad-Hoc Analyses in PANTHEON are used for business analysis without using the OLAP server or OLAP cube. The analyses are run on the basis of the user SQL statement with data measurements and dimensions. Using them, custom pivot tables are created. In PANTHEON, you can find preset Ad-Hoc analyses, making it easier for you to start using Ad-Hoc analyses.

This chapter presents the process of transferring preset Ad-Hoc analyses from the server and how to use the analyses in a case.

CASE SUMMARY

The person responsible in the Tecta company wants to use a preset Ad-Hoc analysis. This is done as follows:

  1. Transferring Preset Ad-Hoc Analyses from the Server
  2. Using a Preset Ad-Hoc Analysis

1. Transferring Preset Ad-Hoc Analyses from the Server

First, the person responsible wants to transfer preset Ad-Hoc analyses from the server.

In the navigation bar, the person responsible selects Settings | Program | Ad-Hoc Analyses.

An empty Ad-Hoc Analyses panel opens.

In the taskbar, the person responsible clicks the (Import/Export Data) button.

From the menu, the person responsible selects the option Transfer Analyses.

A Transfer Analyses - Ad-Hoc opens.

Clicking the Transfer from Server button displays the available preset analyses.

The person responsible selects the available two analyses and clicks the Transfer to Register button.

The analyses are transferred to the Ad-Hoc Analyses Register.

Next, the person responsible uses the preset analysis.

2. Using a Preset Ad-Hoc Analysis

The person responsible wants to analyse sales data for the current and previous year.

The preset Ad-Hoc analysis is already transferred from the server.

In the navigation bar, the person responsible selects Analytics | Ad-Hoc Analyses and clicks the Sales Report for Current and Previous Year analysis.

The Ad-Hoc Analysis – Sales for this and last year opens.

The person responsible uses the "drag&drop" method to edit data in the pivot table.

The person responsible wants to display Gross Margin of Sales for 2021 by Customers.

The person responsible starts editing the pivot table.

First, the person responsible "drags&drops" the Customers field to the Y axis.

The person responsible deletes the Quantity, Packages, Value, and RVV fields from the table.

HINT

The analysis can be exported to an Excel file. For instructions, see the fourth point in the chapter Creating an Ad-Hoc Analysis.
