Changing Location of Fixed Assets

PANTHEON

The location of one or more fixed assets (FAs) can be changed simultaneously. This feature is used when multiple assets, currently assigned to the same location, are being moved to a new location, for example, during office relocations, department reassignments, or equipment reorganization.

Case summary

Tecta Plc. has recently acquired a second-floor office, which will serve as the new premises for the Human Resources (HR) department. Four computers will be relocated to the new office. The responsible person will update the Fixed Assets register by using the Change Location form to change the location of all four computers simultaneously.

This is done as follows:

  1. Accessing the Movement Tab
  2. Changing Location

1. Accessing the Movement Tab

Person responsible opens the Fixed Assets register by navigating to Financials | Fixed Assets | Fixed Assets.

The Fixed Assets register opens.

The person responsible clicks the Movement tab within the record of any inventory number.

In the next step, the person responsible changes location of selected FAs.

2. Changing Location

To change location of FA, the person responsible right-clicks anywhere within the Movement tab, and selects Change Location of Selected Assets.

A new window Change Location opens.

The person responsible clicks the arrow in the Old Location field to select the current location 001, where the computers are currently recorded. Then clicks the Find button to display all FA assigned to that location.

The program returns a list of FAs that match the selected location criteria. The person responsible deselects any assets that will not be transferred to the new office by unchecking the boxes in the Sel. column.

The person responsible clicks the arrow button in the New Location field and selects location 010 from the drop-down menu, indicating where the FAs will be transferred

Once the computers and the New Location are selected, the person responsible clicks the Transfer button.

An information window appears, confirming the data transfer and the location change. The person responsible clicks OK to continue.
