Copying Product Spec History to Manufacturing Specification

Copying Product Spec History to Manufacturing Specification

To copy product specification to manufacturing specification, set Product Spec History for source and Manufacturing Spec for destination specification in the Copy Specification window.

To copy, follow the steps below:

  • A check is run before actually starting to copy. It is obligatory that you enter an item, time when it was recorded to history and alternate for source specification. On the other hand, set WO number and alternate for destination specification. The messages described in the previous topic are displayed in case of errors occurring.
  • This is followed by checking of item types set in the Component Item Type box. Lines containing items that do not belong to any of the types will not be copied.
  • Having checked Tools means that tools from source specification will be copied to destination specification.
  • In addition, checking Small Tools means that small tools from source specification will be copied to destination specification.
  • Having checked Regulations means that regulations from source specification will be copied to destination specification.
  • Before copying, quantity check is run on work order. If it is zero (0), value one (1) is used for recalculated quantity requirements. Work order quantity is used when calculating volume for lines containing Batch quantity and for calculating set-up time in operations.
  • The parameters Scrap Qty, Waste and Scrap and Waste Included in Quantity are checked before copying. If set, they affect calculation of required quantities. Quantities of scrap and waste are calculated if the first option in the Quantity Equation box is selected (first you have to set commercial spec for destination spec). Set the third option in the Quantity Equation box in order to calculate gross and net quantities. If selected, net quantity is equivalent to the required quantity less scrap and waste quantities. At the same time gross quantity is equivalent to the quantity required. If it is not selected, net quantity is equivalent to the quantity required. At the same time gross quantity is increased by scrap and waste quantities.
  • When copying specification and having selected the Overwrite Spec option, a check is run for quantities already issued in WO Work Preparation. A message is returned informing you that you cannot copy in case quantities were already issued.
  • If lines of a phantom item - that is, item types C or U - are included in the specification and you checked parameter Compound Goods and Services as Phantoms, IDs of components of phantom item are recorded instead of phantom assembly ID. Here the required quantites of phantom item are used when trying to calculate volume. To recalculate batch quantities, quantity in line of work order is always used regardless of the level. The valid alternate's data get copied.

Example:

                - Quantity in work order is equal to 11 and Compound Goods and Services as Phantoms is checked. The following lines are included in product specification:

- item COMPOUNDSERVICE is of type 701 - U - Compound service

- required quantity of phantom with batch quantity 2 is in this case 30 and will be used in calculating volume in lines of phantom item:

Thus, volume in lines of phantom assembly included in destination specification can be the following:

   - COMPPONENT01 = 30 PCS

   - COMPPONENT03 = 300 PCS

  • Copying lines to destination specification depends on the mode you selected.
    • Overwrite Spec

Use this method to overwrite specification alternate.

    • Append at End of Spec

If selected, lines of source specification will be appended at the end of destination specification.

    • Add Missing Spec Lines

If source specification contains a line of phantom assembly and you checked Compound Goods and Services as Phantoms, you cannot select the option. The reason for this lies in line numbering because a line with the same ID could be recorded thus causing line records to be incorrectly numbered in destination specification. Otherwise, it is first checked whether a record with the same line number and alternate already exists in specification. If so, the line is not copied.

When copying two or more alternates, lines are renumbered because manufacturing specification cannot contain two or more lines having been assigned the same number. This is due to quantities issued to lines of WO having serial number tracking checked. Assigning of serial numbers depends on the line of work order and not its alternate.

  • Having finished copying lines it recalculates start and end date in lines of manufacturing specification. However, in order for calculation to succeed you first have to set WO Scheduling that can be found in the Administration Panel.
