Adding a New Location

PANTHEON

To ensure accurate tracking of a fixed asset’s (FA) physical location, any new location must first be added to the Fixed Asset Locations register before it can be used in the Movement tab. Once added, the new location becomes available for selection in the Location field.

Case summary

Tecta Plc. has recently acquired a second-floor office, which will serve as the new premises for the Human Resources (HR) department. The person responsible will add this new location to the Fixed Assets Locations register.

This is done as follows:

  1. Accessing the Movement Tab
  2. Accessing the Fixed Asset Locations Register
  3. Adding a New Location

1. Accessing the Movement Tab

Person responsible opens the Fixed Assets register by navigating to Financials | Fixed Assets | Fixed Assets.

The Fixed Assets register opens, where the person responsible clicks the Movement tab.

In the next step, the person responsible accesses the Fixed Asset Locations register.

2. Accessing the Fixed Asset Locations Register

To access the Fixed Asset Locations register the person responsible double clicks the Locations field in the Movement tab.

The Fixed Asset Locations register opens in a new tab.

In the next step, the person responsible adds a new location.

3. Adding a New Location

The person responsible clicks the Insert Record button on the Toolbar to create a new entry.

A new, empty line appears in the list.

The person responsible enters the following data:

  • the 010 location code in the Location field,
  • the location Name: Second floor office,
  • the Department: HR,
  • the Company: Tecta Plc.

Person responsible also clicks the checkbox in the Active field, to mark the new location as active and in use.

Hint

If a new department needs to be added, double click the Department field. This opens the Subjects register where a new department can be added or edited.

The person responsible clicks the Post Edit button on the Toolbar to save the new location.

The new location is now created, saved, and ready for use in the Movement tab.

Hint

For instructions on how to add a new record in the Movement tab, see the chapter Adding a New Movement Record.
