Data Transfer Modes

OTOS's connection settings are defined in this tab.

Connection parameters must be specified in order for the synchronization to work.

If using e-mal as the data transfer mode:

POP server The name of the POP server for incoming messages.
Port The port of the e-mail server.
SMTP server The name of the SMTP server for outgoing messages.
Port The port of the e-mail server.
Time out The time in miliseconds to wait for a response form the server.
Send to email The e-mail address to which to send exported data.
from email The e-mail address that is used as the sender.
Username The user name for the e-mail account.
Password The password for the e-mail account.
Confirm pass The repeated password, for validation.
Test mail and FTP settings Test the entered connection parameters.

A test e-mail message is sent out to check the connection parameters.

056020.gif OTOS does not support MAPI profiles, because it has its own e-mail processing logic and it communicates directly with e-mail servers.

056021.gif The POP3 and SMTP server can also be specified with IP addresses (e.g. 193.138.5.1). The same goes for the outgoing e-mail address (e.g. transfer@193.138.5.1).

056022.gif Take note: with some ISPs the e-mail address and the user name may be different.

056019.gif If OTOS falls out of the synchronization (numer of imports <> number of exports), e-mails can be left on the e-mail server.
Because most e-mail servers have a storage limit, it is possible that OTOS runs out of free storage space. In this case click the DeleteMsgs button in OTOS.
