Treatment

The veterinarian in the animal treatment process records key data about the history, diagnosis, current measurements (status praesens), and adds professional instructions to the owner on how to care for the sick animal. The veterinarian can also write a note for internal use or communication among veterinarians if multiple people are involved in the treatment.

In this chapter, we will present an example of entering data about the treated animal in the tab Treatment. The fields are located on the treatment documents, which we access in the menu Veterinary | Treatment, on the document tab Treatment and sub-tab Treatment.

TIP

For more detailed information about the program forms, read in the PANTHEON VET Guide, in the chapter Treatment.

CASE DESCRIPTION

The veterinarian received a dog named Ado for examination in the clinic. The owner, Adriana Azorski, described that the dog is not eating, is lying down a lot, is tired, and is in a bad mood. The veterinarian examined him, measured his temperature, breathing, pulse, and weight. He also decided to take a blood sample. The data about the examined animal was entered into the treatment. This was done according to the following steps:

  1. Creating a treatment document for the animal
  2. Entering data about the condition of the animal in the Treatment tab

1. Creating a treatment document for the animal

The responsible person creates a treatment document, where they select the owner and the animal that is in the treatment process.

The detailed procedure is described in the chapter Entering treatment (general).

In our case, the responsible person creates Treatment: 23-CLI3-000006.

2. Entering data about the condition of the animal in the Treatment tab

The responsible person continues to enter data about the condition of the examined animal in the tab Treatment.

  • In the sub-tab Treatment clicks in the selection field Adding history and from the drop-down list selects: Anorexia.

  • Then in the text field History adds: Lying down, tired, in a bad mood.
  • In the fields Status praesens enters data about the measured temperature, breathing, heart rate, and body weight of the animal and enters them in the fields: Temperature, Breathing, Pulse, Weight.
  • In the text field Diagnosis enters: Suspected bacterial infection. The animal has a blood sample taken, which is sent to the laboratory for testing.
  • In the field Veterinarian's note writes: Hematology - after obtaining the results, we will specify the diagnosis. After introducing antibiotics, a follow-up check is suggested in 3 days.
  • Gives the owner instructions on how to care for the animal and writes them in the field Professional instructions: The animal should rest more, the introduction of probiotics into the food is recommended.
  • Saves the records by clicking the button Save.

TIP

For faster data entry, use the pre-prepared codes from the drop-down list in the fields Adding history, Adding diagnosis and Adding instructions. For more details on preparing codes, read in the chapters History codes, Diagnosis codes and Professional instructions codes.

WARNING

The withdrawal period is only used for animals intended for food production (cattle, sheep, etc.).
