Serial numbers

In veterinary medicine, drugs and other materials are used that are precisely tracked by serial numbers. This way, traceability can be monitored. Data about the serial number is available for selection during pickup, consumption of items, or anywhere else on the form when we want to verify the data about the present items with serial numbers.

In this chapter, we will present an example of viewing the data about the serial number on the used/selected item. The functionality is available through the button  (Serial numbers). The functionality is located on the treatment document under the tab Service performed, which we access in the menu Veterinary | Treatment.

TIP

For more detailed information about the program forms, read in the PANTHEON VET Guide, in the chapter Serial numbers.

CASE DESCRIPTION

The veterinarian performed a vaccination of the cat Flori, owned by Lie Bengal. When entering the vaccination data, he had to select the serial number of the vaccine, but he had an urgent call in between. Before he completed the data entry on the treatment document, he wanted to check if he had selected the correct data about the serial number. He did this by following these steps:

  1. Creating the treatment document and entering data in the tabs
  2. Selecting the item with the serial number on the Service performed tab
  3. Checking the data about the selected serial number on the treatment

1. Creating the treatment document and entering data in the tabs

The responsible person creates the treatment document, then enters the data about the animal owner and details about why the animal is in the treatment process.

The detailed procedure is described in the chapter Entering treatment (general) or the chapter Vaccination.

In our case, the responsible person creates Treatment: 23-CLI3-000010.

2. Selecting the item with the serial number on the Service performed tab

The responsible person wants to check the selected serial number on the item that was used, in our case for the vaccine.

  • On the tab Service performed, the responsible person clicks on the gray arrow  on the list of items that were used in the treatment, with the intention of expanding the view of the package items.
  • Clicks in the field Item, on the item position: Vaccine_Used.
  • The responsible person then clicks on the button  (Serial numbers).

3. Checking the data about the selected serial number on the treatment

The responsible person wants to check the selected serial number of the vaccine item that he used.

  • After clicking the Serial numbers button, the form opens Issuance of serial numbers.
  • On the right side of the form - Selected serial numbers, in the field Serial No. the responsible person finds the desired data. In our case, he selected the serial number: 3332120.

TIP

More detailed instructions about the form Issuance of serial numbers and the functionalities available are described in the chapter Serial No.

WARNING

In the case of treatment involving multiple animals that are treated individually, a list of animals is added to the form Issuance of serial numbers . Details are described in the chapter Serial numbers.
