Manufacturing Using Multi-Level Specification

Manufacturing Using Multi-Level Specification

010381.gif010411.gif010382.gif

Let us take a look at a company manufacturing semi-finished products which are then used in production of products.

Create product PRODUCT02, in production of which the following are used

  • SEMOPROD01 including own specification:
    • MATERIAL01, 2 pieces
    • MATERIAL02, 1 piece
    • OPERATION01, 2 hours

  • SEMOPROD02 including own specification:
    • MATERIAL03, 0.5 pieces
    • OPERATION02, 0.75 hours

  • MATERIAL04, which represents a simple component

Below you can observe product specification for PRODUCT02:

000001.gif Use two separate work order document types in manufacturing semi-finished products and products (both of them are predefined):
  • 600 - used in production of products
  • 6P0 - used in production of semi-finished products

How do we proceed from here?

1. Material IDs

First enter IDs of child items, that is:

MATERIAL01, MATERIAL02, MATERIAL03 and MATERIAL04; OPERATION01 and OPERATION02

2. Specifications of Semi-finished Products

Proceed by creating specifications of semi-finished products which are further used in product specification.

IMPORTANT: To issue semi-finished products to further production open document type 6P0.

3. Product Specification

Finally you can create product specification.

IMPORTANT:To issue products to further production open document type 600.

4. Work Order

Issue work order for product. PRODUCT02 is represented by an item containing child items. That is why you have to first issue work order using document type 600. Let us say we want to manufacture 2 products:

000001.gif Because the parent item consists of child items which contain own specification, work orders are created for child items in the selected document type immediately after clicking confirmation button.

In our case it handles of document type 6P0 using which SEMIPROD01 and SEMIPROD02 are created in standardized required quantities.

5. Processing Work Orders

Process work orders from bottom level up. To provide required semi-finished products in production you have to manufacture them.

First process work orders using document type 6P0. Then proceed with work orders using document type 600.

6. Cost Analysis

Cost analysis of work order - When creating a parent item, or better, product it displays materials and semi-finished products used in the process; that is, detailed data related to semi-finished products.
